printer status w2K / cups
Version info Samba 2.2.5 Cups 1.1.15 I have cups running and am printing out to the minolta 350 fine(network) from the w2k boxes. The (hopefully last) problem is on my windows boxes no print status comes back in the printer window. I do not see a list of print jobs anywhere or what the job status is. This is the first time I have really tried to get printing to work with samba. All my file

print job name
Is there a way foe me to get the print job name to be something other than "remote downlevel job"? All my jobs are now printing flawless except for this. I would like to be able to get a file name or program at least. Thanks Tony McGrew www.multicam.com

extra page printing
I have found another printing problem on my print server. The printer is an HP2000C. Printing using cups. The print queue is set up as a RAW printer. It should be just pass through. I am using the same print driver as on the Novell that works fine. The problem is before each print job a single page gets printed with a %! at the top of the page and nothing else. This problem does not show up

more printing + general domain advice
I still have not figured out how to get the printer status (list of jobs etc..) to show up in the w2k printer windows. most printing is working well with this exception, I print from an email from outlook and the bold H gets left out. Different emails, different fonts, but always the capital H. Here is the system. RH7.3 compiled cups from cups.org 1.1.15 (and printing with it) samba 2.2.5 from

extra user logs
I am running 225 succesfully with RH7.3 (this is a different machine than the print server of earlier messages). This machine is set up to file serve 4 employees only. There is one group and 5 users. I am getting a log entry on this server for every user in the building, not just the ones that are actually logging onto an using this server. Attached is a small portion of one of the logs. I am

[PATCH] nv50, nvc0: don't base decisions on available pushbuf space
We still have to push everything out, might as well kick earlier and flip pushbufs when we know we'll need it. This resolves some issues with the new policy of making sure that we always leave a bit of room at the end for fences. Printing Errors
I've been running RedHat 5.0 and Samba flawlessly for over 6 months now. I had to reboot the server and now I can't seem to print. When I use the "Printtool" to send a test text or postscript job to the printer, I get the following error: Unable to print to HP4000 Error Message: lpr: connect: no such file or directory jobs queued, but cannot start daemon The printer is set up

[PATCH 10/21] nouveau: Add support for ARB_sampler_object
ARB_sampler_object is very simple software only extension to support. I want to make it mandator extension for Mesa drivers to allow meta module to use it. This patch add support for the extension to nouveau. It is completely untested search and replace patch. I hope someone with old NV hardware could give a try that there is no regressions and ARB_sampler_object tests passes. Signed-off-by:

remote swat enabling
I've done this before and can't remember how. Also I have searched the archives and can't find it. Maybe some of us can come up with a better way searching the archives. My current way takes a lot of time. Anyway I am trying to enable swat from a remote location and there is some file somewhere that says only allow it from local but I can't remember what file that is. Can

permssion issues
I have a pretty well working RH7.3 Samba 2.2.5 from RPM set up. I have searched the archives and the man pages but can't find an answer to this issue although I have a sneaking suspicion it is there somewhere. I have 3 groups set up under linux. everyone, engr, and sales. I have 3 shares. One share is set up for the engr group, one for the sales group, and one for everyone that gets shared

RE: samba with redhat and act
Yes I get that. I am able to get it to work properly by giving complete world access to the file and folders, which means basically it has to be on a share by itself, or one that has complete rwxrwxrwx. I would of course prefer to have only group access but that doesn't work for this act database. I also turned off op locks. Don't know if that will cause any problems. but it made the

FW: act database problem
I found out a few things. The problem is when act closes the locks are not being cleared. I can make it work by creating an additional share just for the database that has no locking at all, but I think I am risking data corruption. I don't need access to the database simultaneously so if anyone knows how to force the locks to be cleared when I exit act so the next person can get it that

Win2K sp4 can't print
Hi, I just installed 2 Win2K sp4 workstations on an otherwise working Samba 2.2.8a network and 2 of the 3 printers are showing "Access denied". What's up with that? The other computers that are working just fine are Win98, XP and Win2K NOT sp4. Here is part of the global section: printing = bsd load printers = yes disable spoolss = yes printcap name

3.5.1 64 bit windows printing is working a bit
Hi, although I don't expect any answers (like most of the times) , here is my experience so far: I run a samba printserver for +3.000 hosts and 600 printers with a correct setup successfully. So be sure, everything is plugged in, I tried to turn it off and on again, I RTFM'ed and so on. Here is my most successfull attempt to get the printservice going on 3.5.1 and windows 7 46 bit
