I am still having some difficulties with connecting R to a C++ function. I am able to call the function as expected after compiling the shared library and such. I had the same problem. You need to go into your Makefile and add the [LIBS] definition to the part where winbind.so is linked. Just take it on to the end of the line and run "make" and "make install" again.
