Add a feature : disk and partition cloning
Bonjour, Today, I use rsync for updating some 40 Debian/Linux box, rsync is great. So, now, I'll need to update a whole disk or partition (NTFS) with an image or an other disk or part. (case multiboot system), can'I hope rsync do this task in some day ? rsync algorithm would be great for this task, isn't-it ? I'don't mind how amount of works this feature need, but some

client NT always asks for password
Hello Our NT workstations always ask for the password on each share of the samba server, although the password is the same as the log on password. Is there any way to avoid this ? The first try always fails on the server, but I don't what user/passwd combination NT uses on that first time... slow concurrent accesses
Helo all I'm having performance problems with samba v2.0.3/freeBSD3.2 when there's more than one client using the same share. Every thing works, but very slowly - about 30 seconds to open an Access table. When there is only 1 client, it takes about a second. The server is almost 100% idle. I tried samba v2.0.5a on a Linux and the problem also exists. On a MSWindows NT workstation

Why do non-lvds monitors default to dithering these days?
In the past we assumed that external displays did their own dithering if needed. GPU based dithering is only needed for laptop displays if i had to guess. I was almost thinking my monitor was malfunctioning because of strange barely visible flickering. Now it *seems* as if dithering was the problem, although time will have to tell, because it's subtle to see these effects. Ofcource i can try

Getting a user from a model (sort of a noob) (resend sorry)
Sorry for the resend but I am not sure if the first one ever made the list. As mentioned in my previous posts I''m trying to create a dynamic directory for file_folumn. After finding out that I didn''t have the most recent version I installed the latest trunk and am able to get file_column to act as it should. However I have been racking my brain on how to implement

ipop (kernlab) gives pars < lower bound ?
hi everyone, ipop very quickly and accurately identifies the correct parameters in a toy dataset i built, but when i use ipop on the real dataset i get values for the parameters " primal(res) " that are less than zero, even though i specify zero for the lower bound : l = rep(0, length(c)) , where length(c) is the number of parameters i'm trying to identify. the parameters are

custom monitor formats
I recently updated from OpenSUSE 11.3 to 11.4. The proprietary Nvidia driver will no longer work, even the latest NVIDIA...run. I removed it and set up nouveau, which works fine except it ignores my customized /etc/xorg.conf.d files and sets my monitor to 1024x768. The monitor, an ACER AL1916W should be run at 1440x900 and this is the preferred mode (modeline) in the configuration files.

Gentoo HOWTO is outdated
Hi there! This HOWTO is outdated: http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/GentooEbuilds x11-base/nouveau-drm from the x11 overlay asks for the 3.2 version of kernel, but the latest version is 3.1.5. This advice is also wrong: "These ebuilds do not have any keyword, as it is usual with cvs/svn/git releases. To be able to install them, you have to mark them with ** in package.keywords."

nvidia gt 545 and nouveau
I have 2 monitors plugged into the same nvidia card (running nouveau) one can be either DVI-I or VGA(vga right now) and the other is hdmi, right now, I am just trying to get the monitors to not be clones of each other and to be side by side. When i do xrandr --output HDMI-1 --pos 0x0 --output VGA-1 --auto --right-of HDMI-1, the whole screen freezes with the mouse in between the 2 monitors and I

I have Asterisk 1.0.5-BRIstuffed-0.2.0-RC5 up and running. Everything seems to be running fine but after some time asterisk just goes crazy (even withouth any incoming or outgoing call activity perviously). If I leave the box up for some time * goes haywire and the console is flooded with this message: Ouch ... error while writing audio data: : Broken pipe At that time I can see that there

File/dir user permissions on Samba fileserver in DC
Hi, aLL Using Samba-4.3.5 as a AD-member - fileserver. It's running in OpenVZ container (ProxMox VE). Domain is also build on Samba-4.3.5 (another VM). Fileserver's VM is mounted with acl, user_xattr options, Samba compiled with ACL support. There're domain users, for example, "usr1", "usr2". They're in domain group "dg1". There's a filepath

Lack of support of Stored Procedures is a Show Stopper
In my opinion most mature/complex client/server or n-tier applications using SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL, use stored procedures. Without support (except by use of the execute method) for Stored Procedures, Ruby on Rails or MonoRail is a Show Stopper. We are unable to effectively use Ruby On Rails as all access to the db is using Stored Procedures. This does not mean that we are unable to use

[PATCH 10/10] drm/nouveau: fix off-by-one bugs related to command submission in IB mode
Commit "drm/nouveau: port all engines to new engine module format" changed IB size calculation to be less wasteful, but didn't take into account already existing off-by-one bugs :). So: - ib_max is the last entry, so we need to +1 when calculating number of free entries - nv50_dma_wait already does +1 (for FIRE_RING), so we don't need another +1 on nouveau_gem_ioctl_pushbuf

constrained optimization
Dear list, The task view on optimization does not reference a package for non linear constrained optimization problems. Stefan Theussl told me to look at the Rsolnp package, but unfortunately it is not very clear what method is R ported. (The authors ported the matlab code of Yinyu Ye http://www.stanford.edu/~yyye/ <http://www.stanford.edu/%7Eyyye/>) Currently I'm looking for an
