strange winbind connection
Hello,
One of our admins called me some time ago and told me, that my samba
server (server-A) is connecting his server (server-B), although it
shouldn't. Authentication of my samba shares is working via winbind,
configured to use "server-DC1" :
winbind separator = /
winbind uid = 10000-20000
winbind gid = 10000-20000
winbind enum users = yes

ldap authentification suddenly fails partially
hi !
my systems started to behave weird today.
i am running a debian/linux-fileserver (woody/2.4.18) that exports the
user-homes and acts as a PDC via samba (2.2.4 --with-ldapsam) to my
windoze-clients (w2k/nt).
i am using ldap as authentification database.
everything worked like a charme, until today.
suddenly some users cannot authenticate against the windoze-machines any
more.

problems using challenge-auth with winbind
Hi,
I'm trying to set up a squid with ntlm authentification, and as I
follow the instructions I read in the squid FAQ I run into this problem.
When I try to do a ``wbinfo -a <domain>\\<user>%<passwd>'' the process
tells me that the authentification did not succeded (both, plaintext
passwords authentification and challenge/response password
authentification). This

Can not delete files via Samba in some cases
Hi List,
my problem is the following:
I use Samba 3.5 with AD password authentification and uid/gid information in local files. Everything seems to work so far, when i create files via samba the created files have correct user/group information on linux filesystem level (so i think id mapping works basicly).
The only thing that does not work is deleting files which

Add user script, with winbind, without PAM (Solaris 9)
Dear all
We've been running sucessfully a 2.2.8a Fileserver, member of our NT
domain, authentication with winbind, on a Solaris box. As I've
experienced stability issues with winbind and some minor problems with
missing unicode support, I'm very happy that these problems hopefully
will be gone with version 3.
Now I noticed, that it seems not to be possible any longer to have an

getpwnam() fails with winbind on samba pdc
Hello List,
I've been running into the following winbind problem and would really
appreciate if anyone could give me a hint here:
I'm currently using Samba 2.2.7a as a fileserver (domain member),
user-authentication is done on a WinNT 4.0 PDC. The Samba fileserver
is running winbind so all the users need not be created locally.
Now I want to replace the old Samba version with Samba

Samba (Linux) Server and Mac OS X Clients
Hi,
I'v been googling around for information using a samba server as
authentification and fileserver for mac os x clients.
At the moment I have all useraccounts and (home-)shares configured on
the samba server and I can manually connect to the server from the os x
clients.
My Questions: Has someone a how to configure a loginscript for mounting
the samba shares?
Or has someone a how to

trusted domain 'disconnected' using winbind
I have a problem with winbind resolving global groups on a trusted NT
Domain. I want to use SQUID and NTLM Authentification and therefore the
external authentification helper needs to check if a user belongs to a given
group. When I do 'windbind -r DOMAIN+USER GROUP', only groups of the local
domain are listed. It seems as if winbind couldn't find a domain controller

Problem with authentification Samba 3.0.24
Dear listmembers,
a few weeks ago i've installed a server based on openSUSE 10.0 and Samba
3.0.20
in addition to two existing Windows 2003 servers. My aim is to replace the
Windows servers in medium term.
The Samba server uses Kerberos v5 to authentificate the users against the
W2003-Server. The W2003-Server ist the primary domain controller, the other
W2K3-server is the "backup domain

Add user script executed after PDC authentification failed
Hello,
I've got a recent problem when upgrading my PDC from 3.0.x to 3.5.3.
When a fileserver (samba 3.0.x configured as security=domain) is contacted
by a new non domain user (here I used "localuser1"), the fileserver invoke
the add user script although the PDC does not authenticate that user.
Prior to the PDC samba upgrade the local users were not created and this is
