Replacing puppet:// with svn:// ?
I''ve been pondering how to handle our file distribution issues - we''re starting to roll puppet out, and I''d like to get it somewhat right from the start. I''ve been watching the list for a while, and observed ''complaints'' about the speed of the fileserver method when dealing with recursive directories. If I can avoid this, I''d

Clustered Samba 3.6.6 connection issues
Dear Samba Community, we recently did upgrade our data server cluster from Debian Squeeze (Samba 3.5.6) to Debian Wheezy (Samba 3.6.6). The cluster is configured to act as BDC too. After the upgrade, connecting to the server works for a short while and then users experience disconnects and are unable to reconnect the mapped network drive (mostly on Win7/64bit; connections from Linux machines work

How to address the following: CRAN packages not using Suggests conditionally
Re-sending, since I forgot to include the list, sorry. I'm including r-package-devel too this time, as it seems more appropriate for this list. How to address the following: CRAN packages not using Suggests conditionally
Dear colleagues, dear members of the R Core Team, This was an issue raised by Prof. Brian Ripley and sent privately to all developers of CRAN packages that suggest Bioconductor packages (see original message below). As mentioned in my message enclosed below, it was easy for me to fix the error in examples (new version not submitted to CRAN yet), but it might turn into a major effort for the

Thanks a lot, I?aki, this is a perfect solution! I already implemented it and it works great. I'll wait for 2 more days before I submit the revised package to CRAN - in order to give others to comment on it. Switching from webrick to mongrel
I got tired of restarting my puppetmaster when it stopped responding and finally switched to mongrel last night. When running under mongrel, what sort of concurrent connection rates are people able to get? I dont know how many individual puppetmaster processes I should spawn, or how to tell when I should span more. Perhaps I need more than two, because this morning I had a look at how

Strange Usermapping problem with 3.0.23b
Yesterday evening I upgraded my FreeBSD 5.5-RELEASE Server from Samba 3.0.22 to 3.0.23. This gave me a LOT of work today... :-( This is what I found so far: My Samba-Server is member of a large ADS-Domain. After the upgrade, file based Usermapping didn't work anymore... better: it worked TWICE. (I once opened a PR for that a few years ago :-). So, with LogLevel 3:

Slow read performance
Help please- I am running 3.3.1 on Centos using a 10GB network. I get reasonable write speeds, although I think they could be faster. But my read speeds are REALLY slow. Executive summary: On gluster client- Writes average about 700-800MB/s Reads average about 70-80MB/s On server- Writes average about 1-1.5GB/s Reads average about 2-3GB/s Any thoughts? Here are some additional details:
