Samba and RSBAC or LSM
Hi,
I'm running Samba as a PDC for 1 year it works great.
I have one question.
In this time we need for some applications Extended Attributes (EA),
users can read, write, but not delete files.
These applications are written in Pascal (DOS mode) :o((.
Can anyone tell me, if RSBAC or LSM or any other similar project can
help ne with this problem?
Can Samba work with these EA?
Thanks,

SGI XFS 1.0.2a, ACLs and samba 2.2.3a with win2k perms
Hi,
I haven't been able to find any doco that explicity states whether it is
supported, so I am hoping someone out there can answer the following
questions:
Is it possible for a folder/file in a samba share to have win2k security
permissions assigned to it? For example, I want my samba server to
participate in an existing Win2k domain. I want users to be able to set
their own

Extended Attributes and Access Control Lists
Hello,
I have today released an initial version of extended attributes and access
control lists for ext3 (patch against the 2.4.13-ac3 kernel). Eric Jarman
<ejarman@acm.org> has contributed a lot to this effort.
Since I'm not very much into the innards of ext3, can some of you please
take a look at the patch, and see whether it contains any flaws (and tell
me which flaws)? Thanks!

DomU stops on boot inside Dom0 while booting
I have installed xen on a node and while starting up a guest while in
the kernel boot I am experiencing a hold/pause. The kernel stops in the
boot sequence still loading the kernel at:

ACLs as Standard Component in ext3?
To all:
I was wondering if there was any talk regarding the possible inclusion
into either kernel 2.4.x or 2.5.x of a general and standard ACL
interface for file system security. I've used the ACL patch from
acl.bestbits.at on ext3 & love it dearly except for the quota issues.
Despite those issues I absolutely could not live without ACL's
on large file servers with a few hundred or

File Systems - Which one to use?
We are looking at implementing a Linux box running samba in the near
future with about 1TB of disk online. The purpose of this box will be
for basic file and printer sharing needs. I am doing research on the
different journaling file systems avaible in RH 7.3 and up (ext3,
reiserFS, and JFS) and was wondering if anyone has had any real world
experience with them (mostly reiserFS and JFS) and

Failed to parse ACL smbcacls
I'm trying to set up a Samba server with ACLS.
Versions:
- xfs in kernel-2.4.20.
- samba-2.2.7a compiled with ACL support
I'm trying first with smbcacls. But I can't manage to
guess the syntax of the ACL command.
I want the user "frankie" could RWX a file owned by "javi"

XFS and CentOS 4.3
Hi All, after looking around for info on XFS(the filesystem) and its use
on CentOS and/or RHEL 4. There seems to be a lot of noise about 4K
Stacks (especially on linux-xfs at oss.sgi.com).
So what is the best way to get XFS working with CentOS 4.3 ? And not
have something like this happening.
A quote from the xfs list at sgi

Samba with Posix ACL support
Hi!
Has anyone got any "success story" or any good advice of using Posix ACLs
(or Enhanced Attributes) with Samba? I'm using Debian woody with 2.4.22
linux, ext3fs and Samba 3.

Re: libguestfs-xfs for CentOS 6
Many thanks for a quick reply,
see also
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1413499#c5
Looks like the same issue as mine. But any way - a full log of guestmount, running it with -v -x and host + VM info are attached, probably I've missed something important in the output.
Thank you!

Access Denied when changing ACLs from W2000 client
Hi all
I'm having some problems trying to configure ACLs from a Win2000 SP3
client. I'm running Samba 2.2.5 on kernel 2.4.18 (with acl + ext attr),
Samba is compiled with acl support etc.
Samba is configured with security=domain, and is running with local
groups etc rather than thru winbind, I haven't been game enough to tread
those waters yet.
With the debug level set to 5

CentOS 4.3 x86_64 xfs module rpm
The xfs kernel modules at dev.centos.org are very handy. There are a
couple of xfs modules in the 4.3 x86_64 directory, but I don't think
it's for the x86_64 4.3 kernel (2.6.9-34). The latest ones in that
directory is for the -22 kernel (I believe this came with CentOS 4.2).

Changing unix group ownership through Samba
Hi everyone,
First of all, sorry if this is something which the man pages or other
documentation answer. I could not find a simple solution.
I am running 3.0alpha22 on Linux joined to a W2k domain with a Windows
2000 Server domain controller. Authentication is done with Kerberos,
clients are 2000/XP.
I want to be able to change the unix group ownership on directories and
files from the Windows

XFS-filesystem corrupted by defragmentation Was: Performance problems with XFS on Centos 5.4
Before I'd try to defragment my whole filesystem (see attached mail
for whole story) I figured "Let's try it on some file".
So I did

Then I defragmented the file
> xfs_fsr /raid/Temp/someDiskimage.iso

ACL support?
Is it still true that in order for a Linux hosted Samba server to have NT ACL
support, the Linux box must have an ACL aware file system such as XFS or
Andreas Gruenbacher's kernel patch ("POSIX ACL")? I read this in chapter 4 of
"Teach Yourself Samba in 24 Hours". In the time since that book was written,
has an easier method been developed, or has a

A questiong about replacing my failing drive
First, I am not a RedHat or linux newbie. I simply have not had to do
what I am getting ready to do, and I want to see if I am going to run into
a problems...
My HDA drive is failing (I can hear the occasional click from it and I am
seeing Smart errors, the transfer rate is slow but all my data is there).
I have 3 partitions on it, the /, /boot/ and my game servers (this is also
the drive the
