HELP! initialise_groups/initgroups input/output error
Hello everyone, I asked about this problem a few days ago because I am at a loss as to what is causing it. Below is the message I posted. I am resending it because I could really use some help, and because the address I originally sent it from has been inundated with message after message containing the Kaspersky virus. I must say that it is sad that people that send messages to mailing lists are

lock request at offset?
I was trying to copy swf file (35MB) from a windows machine to my samba share. It told me "There is not enough disk space". However, it lets me copy it in another share. I didn't notice anything different with the share I am having problem with. I noticed the following messages in the log: [2005/08/10 13:56:47, 0] locking/posix.c:posix_fcntl_lock(657) posix_fcntl_lock: WARNING:

Print Server Decision
I would really appreciate some help on deciding how to replace my NT Print Servers. Currently I'm running Samba 2.2.2 on Suse 7.0 on a s/390. I've setup SPOOLSS with 11 Printers at the moment and I'm experiencing some errors in the logs. These two errors are dispersed throughout the log.smbd file: [2002/03/07 10:33:45, 0] rpc_server/srv_pipe_hnd.c:open_rpc_pipe_p(144) ERROR!

winbind trouble under load?
We have a large W2K domain with numerous terminalservers at the local sites. Those sites also have a linux-2.2.20 server with samba-2.2.5. The samba is used to store the profiles for both the terminalservers and for the windows 2000/xp clients. I use winbind and have joined the server to the domain without problem. I can set rights on directories and so on. However from time to time when the

$HOME/.shosts and setegid()
Hello, The ssh deamon from OpenSSH_2.5.2p2 first does a seteuid(uid) and then stat($HOME/.shosts) to check whether a .shosts file is there. This seems to be a problem when homedirectories are only accessible "by group permission"; for example in the following (as I guess quite common) case: drwxr-x--- root mygroup 512 Apr 10 12:09 mygroup And my personal homedirectory would now

Bug in Configurator.change_privilege?
Hello. I have discovered that mongrel does not correctly take on all the groups of the requested user/group combination. It seems that while the specified user and group is correctly activated, all the other groups that are associated with this user are not enabled and the group permissions remain the same as the caller (i.e. root). This problem (and solution) is discussed in the Ruby Forum:

sshd and pam_winbind (Samba)
Hello openssh developers, long time no see :-) there is a bug in sshd with *nix machines joined to Active Directory using Samba's winbind daemon. The problem is that with cold caches, a user logging in via ssh gets possibly the wrong primary gid assigned. Let me try to explain in detail: In Active Directory (AD) you only get a correct access token (group memberships of a user) during

Dovecot Alpha 4
Hi We've been using Dovecot as our primary IMAP and POP3 server for around 70,000 users for a couple of months now. On the whole, we've been very pleased with the performance of Dovecot - and are extremely grateful to the developers! However, we have had a few issues, some of which we have yet to resolve. We chose Dovecot because it was the only IMAP/POP3 server we could find that
