PAM overrides PermitEmptyPasswords
I noticed while investigating Debian Bug #93200 (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=93200&repeatmerged=yes) that sshd refuses a login if /etc/pam.d/ssh doesn't specify "nullok" after the pam_unix.so module -- is there any way to resolve this problem? It seems that OpenSSH should override PAM in this case, someone posted a patch on 6/19 that appears to address this

Bug : Autocorrelation in sample drawn from stats::rnorm (hmh)
Hi Hugo, I've been able to replicate your bug, including for other distributions (runif, rexp, rgamma, etc) which shouldn't be surprising since they're probably all drawing from the same pseudo-random number generator. ?Interestingly, it does not seem to depend on the choice of seed, I am not sure why that is the case. I'll point out first of all that the R-devel mailing list is

"Secret is bad" -- Winbind with Samba 2.2.2 and Windows 2000 (native mode)
I'm having problems getting "Secret is bad" with the command "wbinfo -t". I get good results with "wbinfo -u", "wbinfo -g", and "wbinfo -m". I also have positive results with all the samba tests in DIAGNOSIS.txt. I've tried deleting the computer account and recreating many times on my Windows 2000 Domain Controller (everything is native

winbind wbinfo -t secret is bad
Quick run down of my setup: NT 4.0 PDC, Samba RedHat 8.0 with samba 2.2.5-10 on it.(Also used RedHat 7.2 with 2.2.6 final as well) with the exact same results. When I run wbinfo -t, I get Secret is bad 0xc000018b. I have been trying to figure this out for a few days now and can't get it working correctly. If I run wbinfo -u, all of the users appears in the list, as well when I run wbinfo

How to verify the domain secret is good or bad?
I know there is the command "wbinfo -t". But when it says that "could not check secret", how do I know it's the secret is bad, or something else wrong, like winbind went crazy maybe? Also, sometimes I saw problems like "wbinfo -t" just says "secret is bad", when all the daemons were running. It sure was good at some point before. So my

One-time script to update 1000s of values in a single column in a table: nil error?
Hi, I have a model called Stock with a value called "strength." I wrote a simple method in the Stock.rb model file to update the value of "strength" for each record in the stocks table. I created a controller called fix_controller.rb. I don''t have access to the live system, so the idea is that an admin will go to http://url/fix and a script will run to check and

POODLE and TLSv1
I read this on the RHN commentary respecting cve-2014-3566: https://securityblog.redhat.com/2014/10/15/poodle-a-ssl3-vulnerability-cve-2014-3566/: . . . The first aspect of POODLE, the SSL 3.0 protocol vulnerability, has already been fixed through iterative protocol improvements, leading to the current TLS version, 1.2. It is simply not possible to address this in the context of the SSL 3.0
