HPUX 11.00 & CIFS/9000 Server - Domain authentication problem
Hi, I have been using Samba and CIFS/9000 happily with security=user for some time now, for simple read-only filesharing. Three days ago I decided to get a bit more clever.... I now have a test server and I'm trying to get it to work against our Win2K PDC (UKNT19), which is running Active Directory in native mode for our Windows domain UKNT001. The UNIX server (uk209) is HPUX 11.00 and the

smbxcals
HI , We have come up with a utility called smbxcals which is derived from smbcals, where we no need to establish the client connection to perform ACLs operations, by just giving the absolute path as a paratmeter can list and set ACLs as below, # smbxcacls /root/FOO/ REVISION:1 CONTROL:0x8404 OWNER:DEMOSP\Administrator GROUP:DEMOSP\Domain Users ACL:BUILTIN\Administrators:ALLOWED/OI|CI|I/FULL

Should sshd be fixed to handle NIS+ keylogin
To get around the problem of having to change the root password every time a sys admin leaves the organization Solaris is hardened as follows. in /etc/default login. CONSOLE= Restricted permissions on su so only certain groups can run it. That way its really difficult to log in as root even if the root password is known. For OpenSSH PermitRootLogin is set to without-password and a key is

winbindd problem - STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW (0x80000005)
Hi everyone, i've got a little (at least i hope its a minor one) problem with winbind. General information about the system: - GNU/Linux 2.4.25-2tr - samba-3.0.2-4tr Samba successfully joined the ads (w2k servers), wbinfo -u and -g are working perfectly. If i try to authenticate a user with wbinfo or with ntlm_auth (overall goal is to have ntlm authentication with squid) i get a

3ware 9000 install
I'm trying to do a fresh install on a new server that has a 3ware 9000 controller. I followed the instructions on the 3ware manual and used a floppy with the drivers for RH WS3 (Update 2) but it doesn't work. After it asks me to load the disk it reads for a while and then it says it did not find any drivers that pertain to this system. I tried loading the 3w9xxx driver unsuccesfully, it

[OT] 3Ware 9.2.1.1 firmware for 9000 series released ...
Claims to have fixed the write performance issues with multiple volumes. Haven't tried it personally (I do not have a 9500S card, and I have only installed one once for a client). NOTE: This (9.2.1.1) is an actual, formal, supported release -- not an unsupported engineering release. -- Bryan J. Smith | Sent from Yahoo Mail mailto:b.j.smith at ieee.org | (please excuse

[OT] 3Ware 9.2.1.1 firmware for 9000 series released
Here are the version numbers I get after installing the 9.2.1.1 release: Model 9500S-4LP Firmware FE9X 2.08.00.003 Driver 2.26.03.019fw BIOS BE9X 2.03.01.052 Boot Loader BL9X 2.02.00.001 A bit confusing. I thought I saw a map of code set releases to various version numbers but I couldn't find it on 3Ware's site. On Sun, 28 Aug 2005 at 9:20am, Bryan J. Smith wrote >

Radeon 9000 breaks with CentOS 4.4
Dell Inspiron 600M w/ Radeon 9000 card. This worked with CentOS 4.3, also works with Knoppix 4.0.2. Graphical installation succeeds, but upon reboot, and all subsequent rebbots, graphical mode does not work, the screen becomes black. In addition to the 2.6.9-42 kernel, we have also tried the 2.6.9-42.0.2 kernel. Same problem exists on both kernel. Running system-config-display --reconfig

SAMBA 2.0.6 vs HP's ASU/9000 LanMan (battle rages on)
Found the solution to my 2.0.6 dying on me on SGI - SYSV_IPC needed to be #undef'ed in source/include/includes.h in favor of MMAP, seems to have fixed it. If I run the daemon in server mode, no prob. If I switch to domain mode (and use smbpasswd to join into the domain, per the instructions), I get the error indicating that the username/password pair was incorrect, as if I typed in a wrong
