strange things happening here, with WinXP pro
hi, what I have: a SuSE 8.0 pro, running samba 2.2.3a as a PDC two WinXP pro boxes, both with that 'requiresignorseal' registry patch applied, lets call them a and b. what happens is this: a is a happy domain member. everything's yummy. b joins the domain, reboots. on login attempt, b says 'domain not available' now, login on box a. a says: 'domain not available'...

Can't browse workgroup
I have joined my w2k client to workgroup_name, however I cannot see my samba server at all. If I try and view it via 'Computers Near Me' I get a error window stating: 'Workgroup_name is not accessible.' 'The account is not authorized to log in from this station.' I get the same error if I try this as the w2k administrator or user account. If i try searching for

Asterisk and Cisco 7960 problems persist (for me, anyway)
It seems that each time I get a new checkout of * from CVS my Cisco 7960 works worse than before. I know this stuff's in flux, so I mention this in case it's news. Anyone else having trouble? What I'm seeing (er, hearing) is really choppy audio. The previous version I had installed had fairly frequent audio dropouts (not present when I make the same calls through the same * box

Advice on small office UPS
Hello Folks, I have a couple of questions - one about a basic UPS choice I am to make for a small UK office environment and the second about NUT Windows support. For the UPS, I have 2 or 3 servers, a phone system and a switch i.e. a basic : - Dell R410 1U (2x IEC) - Dell SC1425 1U (1x IEC) - Mitel 3300 CXi phone system (1x IEC) - Netgear GS748T switch (1x IEC) It would be good to also be able

Logwatch for postfix
On CentOS5 with the latest updates applied, the logwatch filter for postfix returns way too many lines from the log. I get an "unmatched entries" message and all messages that have gone through the system is listed. Here is an example: 8F930A8092: to=<morten at foo.bar>, orig_to=<morten at localhost>, relay=local, delay=0.19, delays=0.06/0.01/0/0.12, dsn=2.0.0,

Samba+CUPS+Driver autodownload
Hi, I'm trying to get Samba to offer the Adobe driver automatically for the two printers I have set up with CUPS. I have all of the necessary files plucked out of the Adobe Postscript Windows driver package, but I'm hitting the problem when I come to run "cupsaddsmb -v ..." that the "rpcclient adddrivers" command always fails with NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL. The drivers

What is faster...windows vs Samba
Hello, I am just curious...which is faster? Obviously if the machines are the same size and all conditions are equal except for the OS. [RFC] High-Level Code-Review Documentation Update
Yeah, +1 that people from the same organization are sometimes the only ones working on a certain feature/area. (certainly I'd expect some discussion about the feature in general to be discussed outside that group if it's in any way contentious - but some stuff's clear enough (I think I implemented debug_types years ago, likely with only Eric's approval, both of us being at Google

Really Big Queues
Hi, How do you folks handle really large queues (350+ simultaneous callers) in your Asterisk PBXes? We're going to be bringing in around 16 PRIs' worth of inbound callers, doing skills-based routing, and queuing them up for approximately 200 agents. What's the best way to handle all of these callers? We want to record the calls and we'll probably use the ramdisk method that has

[LLVMdev] [RFC] Add second "failure" AtomicOrdering to cmpxchg instruction
Hi all, The C++11 (& C11) compare_exchange functions with explicit memory order allow you to specify two sets of semantics, one for when the exchange actually happens and one for when it fails. Unfortunately, at the moment the LLVM IR "cmpxchg" instruction only has one ordering, which means we get sub-optimal codegen. This probably affects all architectures which use

GSoC - Theora multithread decoder
Hi all, I apologize to not keep you up to date to what is going on with my project. Portavales has worked in a desk behind me and when we go to take coffee we talk about the project. Second I didn't know we have to discuss weekly, it was my fault. I should have read the rules. Sorry. At the first month, I studied the code and the Theora Beta implementation. The code is completely different

Strange problem with HP DeskJet 980cxi and HP Color InkJet CP1700
We have a last problem (I hope) before rolling out our new SMB domain using SuSE Linux 8.2 with Samba 2.2.7a and cups 1.1.18. It seams that not every windows printer driver is working correctly. Samba is configured as a PDC and distributes the windows printer driver files. The printing system is cups. Printers are connected via JetDirect-boxes to the network. Printers like the HP LaserJet 4100

Samba Printing
Good Afternoon, We recently added encrypted smb passwords to our site. I just tried to add a printer to samba and it will not work. I tried to connect to \\sambahost\printer and it will not connect. All the older printers still work. I just wonder if there is an extra step I need to perform now when I add printers? Thanks for your time, Bill -- William M. Fennell Network Administrator
