FW: my printers are still paused in Win2k and WinNT 4.0
Jim, Not only does the buffer scrapper code show paused if the Printer name is something like CSQ_office_a but if the host has off in the name like --> hp@mercylaboffice.pa-ucl.com it puts it on pause... 2.2.x Printing from Win2k-more clues
I've discovered a couple of things while troubleshooting my printer setup problems. 1. print$ must be 0744. I ran a level-3 debug, and was seeing "chmod failed" errors. Upping it to level-10, I saw something that pointed to unix rights of 0744; my dir's were set to 0755 or 0777...neither worked. When I set print$ and it's subdir's to 0744, the chmod errors went away.

REPOST: queuepause/queueresume and w2k machines, won' t work
[Shane Drinkwater] Daniel, I have the same probelm. These are the steps I did in a previous thread... Jim, I think I found another bug... I really seem to be in printer hell :(.... I found that windows 2k doesn't update its status "ready" or "paused" when used with samba. Here is what I did... 1.) enable all of the lpr/lpd queues. check em' with lpq... 2.)

old print jobs go away!!
Hello, My name is Shane Drinkwater. I am having some problems with samba and printing. It seems that old print jobs will not leave the printer status screen on my 2000/xp clients. It looks to me that the tdb for the offending printer is not being purged when a print job completes. info Fedora Core 5 X86 Samba 3.0.24 smb.conf [global] #================== remote Annouce Settings

Printers Always Paused - A Solution
I had a problem with Samba 2.2.5 with the printers being permanantly paused to Windows machines. They could print OK - it was only the status that was wrong. The reason for this was because I had used the word office in the printer name / comment. This was causing the parser which recognises the printer status to find 'off' pausing the printer. A quick fix for this is to replace the

Print queue doesn't clear
I suppose this is a basic linux question as much as it is a Samba related question. I have configured my 2.2.5 redhat 7.3 server to *not* supply the drivers (too many problems). Everything is fine now, but one exception: the print job remains in the queue after it prints. The job shows up as "Paused". This leaves the printer icon in the tray on the client. The reason I mentioned it is a

Hello, I have a bunch of Windows XP Pro machines, Samba 2.2.4, and several plotters on Jetdirect cards, and several printers on Netport 10/100 Muli-port network print servers. I have successfully configured Samba 2.2.4 to allow Windows XP to join the domain controlled by Samba and automaticaly create its own computer account on Samba. I would now like to setup Samba to share all the printers

Print Jobs stuck in queue
Hi, I have a RedHat7.3 distro running Samba-2.2.3a. I've never had this problem before 2.2.x versions of samba. I'm using domain security and sharing 2 printers, an HP4050 and Ricoh. Everyone can print fine except that, seemingly randomly, printjobs end up in the queue as paused (according to winXPpro and Win98). Nobody can unpause or delete them. The only way to remove them is to

samba 2.27 as print server
I'm running Samba 2.27 on RH8 system. I've got samba as the print spooler for Windows XP clients and using winbind as the user validation against my Win2K DC. Permissions on the spool directory are root root with the sticky bit on. Clients can delete their own jobs from the que, but the spool directory is not being expunged of print jobs and the last job constantly displays in the client

How to set up spooling for a HP JetDirect interface?
I've set up Samba and LPRng for HP printers with JetDirect cards. It works for one user at a time. But if the printer is off-line or busy, the samba client does not get an error message, but the job gets lost. :( I would like the print jobs to be spooled on Linux even when there is an active print job or when the printer is off-line. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with lpd. The

data corruption in samba 3.4.3 ?
Hello, I am using Citrix XenServer for my VM environment. I found that If I am using samba 3.4.3 and dump a vm from a Citrix xen node the resulting image is not importable(ie corrupt) into xenCenter. If I am using samba-3.3.9 and perform the same operation everything works great. To dump the vm's from Xen I mount a samba share from the domU OS. I use the following xen commands to dump the
