Hello, I'm having a problem configuring samba (2.0.5a) on a Linux system using NIS+ as the password system. Samba complains that it cannot find the smbpasswd file, which is not surprising as I'm not using one. I tried 'smb password file = passwd.org_dir' that sort of worked, except that it creates a directory called passwd.org_dir from whatever directory I ran the smbd from.

Hi, We have Samba 2.2.6(+2.2.7 security patch) installed on solaris. Samba is used as PDC for WinNT and Win2K clients. The WinNT machines have no problems geting into the domain as machine trust accounts exist in /etc/passwd and smbpasswd file. However, Win2k clients are not able to join the domain. Hi all, using samba 2.2.5; security=server connecting as user1 (user logged in on PC) works (12:28:55), disconnecting and connecting as another user2 (not the user logged in on PC) works too (12:30:22), but disconnecting and connecting again as user1 (user logged in on PC) fails (12:34:29) as well as user2 (12:38:19).
