All, I am having trouble with the getent passwd and getent group command. I am using 2.2.4-4 version of Samba on a redhat system with 2.4.18-SMP kernel. This issue seems to be intermittent. I have been having a hard time login into a RH AS 3.0 using my MS AD account and password. I did successfully setup winbind, krb5 and samba w/out any major complications. But when it came to login I investigate as to why I am not able to log into the linux box using my AD account and password. I used the following URL example to setup winbind and samba.

I'm so close I can feel it :-) I'm having a problem connecting users to their home directories. Under "My Network Places" on XP clients I can see my Samba file server ("Hobbes") just fine. When I double click on it to open it, I get a login/password prompt that I can't bypass even though I try logins/passwords that exist on the ADS server and/or the UNIX accounts.
