I recently took over a x86_64 CentOS 4.0 server running an "unsupported" kernel. On examining the box it seems that perhaps it is because of the use of xfs and netatalk. I just upgraded to 4.7.1 to fix an unrelated bug with deleting directories for OS X clients, and it looks like this bug has been fixed too. I re-enabled ea support, and copies work.
