Win2K registry not loading correctly
Hi, I've noticed that my Win2K registry just won't load correctly. In Win2K regedit nothing shows up at all - not even home registry values - and in Win98 regedit (running in my w2k configured wine) only few values show up, I believe those are my home registry values. Here's the relevant stuff from config, built with winesetup: [Drive H] "Path" = "/mnt/winnt"

cut and paste problem
Dear all, I am new to wine and try to use it to replace vmware for word/powerpoint applications. The first problem that I encounter is that I am unable to cut and paste under all the applications (notepad/word/powerpoint). It seems that the issue is related to the clipboard behavior because when I cut (under notepad) I get an error message stating: "Empty clipboard". Which is kind of

Microsoft Word 2000 on Win2k
I have Windows 2000 already installed on another hard drive and am trying to run Word 2000... my wine version is from the 10th of this month. Has anyone had any luck with such a setup? Does anyone have any tips? I keep getting the error (in a windows dialog) "This application requires the Windows installer to run" - I really don't want to reinstall Word 2000 and then apply all the

Win 9x and WinNT Clients connecting to Samba-Server
Hello, I know I should get rid of the problem by my own, but unfortunally I failed. So I ask: I`ve a subnet of win9x and WinNT clients connecting to our Linux file server (no more servers in this subnet) via samba 2.02. All win95 can see and mount services of the Samba server. But win98 and WinNT can only see the server but can not connect to a service. I`ve no encryption and security= user in

Windows98 & SMB
I have a question about Win98 and Samba. Is there a registry fix similar to the WinNT plaintext passwd that needs to be performed? Win95, and WinNT can see Linux via Netbios, but the same machine, running Win98 cannot see the Linux box. I am running the most current version of Samba. The WinNT box can see the 98 machine fine. Does anyone have any experience with this? Please let me know if

File time with SAMBA file server for MS-clients
Hello everybody, I have a big problem with my SAMBA 2.2 Server. I have Win NT/95/98 clients working with my SAMBA file server. The problem is, that the time of my files at the server is different, depending on the Windows version of the client. Example: On Win95 I create the file test.bin at a server drive at 07:43 (this is the local time and the time shown in the Win-Status bar). At the same

Hi Peter, i had a long, frunstrating web surfing yesterday night, searching for something that could apply to your case. I didn't find much at all, sorry. The only thing perhaps interesting to you could be this: http://us2.samba.org/samba/ftp/docs/htmldocs/printer_driver2.html This doc contains a section about migrating from 2.0.x to 2.2.x I think the problem lyes in the new way samba

Windows 95/98 Generic Text Driver and rpcclient
I'm using Samba 3.0.0-2 on Redhat 8 as a print server. Everything seems to be working well except the Windows 4.0 Generic Text drivers. I've set up the W32X86 drivers and they work perfectly under XP/2000, but I cant seem to figure out the Win9x situation. I installed the Generic Driver and printed a test page under Win98 to get the list of files it uses, but unfortunatly they are not as

RE: XP Pro timeout; we have a winner - webclient service
Thanks to Jason Balicki for the correct fix to this problem. The 'webclient' service in Windows XP, somehow interferes with access to the Samba server. With the service stopped and disabled, the clients are working again. I've installed samba in my linux machine (Mandrake 7.2). With WinNT and Win2000 there is no problems, but in Win95 and Win98 It's impossible to read files, and open exixting folders, the error is: "the file (folder) don't exist". If I try to create one, It'isn't shown, there is an error, but if I go in machine with win2000 the folder(file) is there. How can I resolve

Win98 policies,profiles and logon scripts
I am running Samba 2.2.3a and have my users logging into the 'samba domain'. My WinNT and WinXP users are working fine with roaming profiles and policies. My problem is my Win98 users. The logon script doesn't seem to be working, i.e. when I log onto a Win98 machine (logging into the domain), the logon script doesn't run. I have opened up the permissions to the logon script
