re: Samba PDC shared applications and a default start menu profile (Kevin S. Brackett)
Hi
I'm currently doing exactly this for several sites. Within Win2K
and above it is possible to configure Local Group Policy Objects, so that
the ALLUSERPROFILES value is pointed to
%LOGONSERVER%\Software\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu
Thus when a user logs in, they see the the menus stored in their profile,
overlayed by these on the Network Drives.

smbmount problem
Hello.
I hope that this is the proper place to ask this.
Here is my problem. I have several smbmounts under Red Hat Linux 5.1. They need to be accessed by
my apache web server. One of the mounts keeps getting disconnected, but this is not noticed by
Linux. So the Linux box thinks that the files under the smbmount are still accessable when they
aren't actually mounted. What would be the best

I Need A Little Help...
Dear Samba Team,
I've been introduced to Samba lately and I used it to
share a ufs File System in an enterprise system to be
accessed through Windows Nt and Windows 2000.
I followed the installation steps and to be honest I
wasn't sure that the system will run because I lack in
experience with this software, also because I was
using instructions from a Samba book that I think was

ustack() issues && correlating SIGSEGV activity?
Howdy,
I was playing around with the malloc/free D script provided by
Philip Beevers:
http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=4224&tstart=15
And decided to change the free:entry probe from:
pid24169::free:entry

{
printf("Freeing %p (size %d)\n", arg0, sz[arg0]);
sz[arg0] = 0;
}

Print queue doesn't clear
I suppose this is a basic linux question as much as it is a Samba related
question. I have configured my 2.2.5 redhat 7.3 server to *not* supply the
drivers (too many problems). Everything is fine now, but one exception: the
print job remains in the queue after it prints. The job shows up as
"Paused". This leaves the printer icon in the tray on the client.
The reason I mentioned it is a

Ld64.lld cannot find Foundation framework
James, many thanks.
Is there any linker available for Macs that has a freely available binary version?
I thought maybe that GNU’s linker might fit the bill?
I cannot use Apple’s linker from /usr/bin/ as it is not allowed to make external calls from a sandboxed app.
Hence my interest in the LLVM lld.

R ggplot2 legend text left justify
In ggplot2 how do you justify the legend text ?
In the example below the opts(legend.text = theme_text(size =
9,hjust=0)) changes the size of the text OK but it remains right
justified.

Need help mounting windows shared partitions
You must check it your loopback interface is enabled and use this mount command.
mount -t smbfs "\\\\windoze\\share" /home/user/dir
if your mountpoint is /home/user.

Question with email notification
I have been searching all over for the answer on all sources online and
have come to the conclusion that it must be rudimentary or I am asking
the wrong question.
I cannot figure out how to configure the box to set the "from" address
to a correct domain, as my outgoing isp will not pass mail from
root@asterisk1.local, as I expect it wouldn't.
Any help is appreciated, even just

An "R is slow"-article
Hi all,
Reading the wikipedia page on R, I stumbled across the following:
http://fluff.info/blog/arch/00000172.htm
It does seem interesting that the C execution is that much slower from
R than from a native C program. Could any of the more technically
knowledgeable people explain why this is so?
The author also have some thought-provoking opinions on R being
no-good and that you should write

[LLVMdev] ambiguity of .align
I just got this error message from the GNU assembler:
Error: alignment too large: 15 assumed
Which made me laugh at first. The corresponding input line was:
.align 16
Apparently what's going on here is that ".align 16" is ambiguous: on
some architectures it means ".balign 16", and on some it means ".p2align
16", which would mean ".balign 65536" if

HP Proliant DL360 G7
Hello,
Has anyone out there been able to qualify the Proliant DL360 G7 for your Solaris/OI/Nexenta environments? Any pros/cons/gotchas (vs. previous generation HP servers) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

module dependencies
Is it possible to make a module a dependency?
We have a "base" module that contains packages, configurations, etc, that
should be processed before other modules, and I''m looking for a way of
enforcing a dependency on everything in the base module without having to
explicitly list each package, etc.
Thanks,
Keith

how to ignore rows missing arguments of a function when creating a function?
Hi,
I am relatively new to R; when creating functions, I run into problems with
missing values. I would like my functions to ignore rows with missing values
for arguments of my function) in the analysis (as for example is the case in
STATA). Note that I don't want my function to drop rows if there are missing
arguments elsewhere in a row, ie for variables that are not arguments of my

Uninstalling RUBYGEMS
Hi,
does anyone know how to uninstall rubygem?
I installed and it had the notorious hanging problem that no one seems
to have an answer to.
So I am going to attempt to install Rails without gems.
Could someone point me in the right direction if you would not answer
me? =)
Regards,
Edmund

Dashboard and remote MySQL BDD
Hi,
I''ve installed Dashboard on my server and I aim to remotely request
the MySQL Database.
All documentations read explain the way to roll out using Dashboard
and MySQL Database on the same server.
I am looking for any information to achieve that because I haven''t
found any from the time being and I wonder if it''s just possible.
Thanks you,
David

ocfs2 - disk usage inconsistencies
Hi all.
I have a 50 GB OCFS2 file system. I'm currently using ~26GB of space
but df is reporting 43 GB used. Any ideas how to find out where the
missing 17GB is at?
The file system was formatted with a 16K cluster & 4K block size.
Thanks,
Matt

Authentication only on NT Boxes not accepted
Hi folks,
I'am using Samba 2.0.0 on a Linux and a Sun box and i have the following
problem: I can log in from a smbclient but not from an NT Client using
Security=Domain.
1.) Doubleclick on the machine opens the password dialouge (which
should'n appear, beacuse i'am already logged in the domain) Enter my
domainusername and password. Window dissapears and appears again and
