How to embed residual dot plots of BHH2::anovaPlot(...) into plotMeans(...)?
Dear R fans, I am preparing a lecture discussing the paper of Wilkinson and APA Task Force on Statistical Inference (1999, American Psychologist, 54, 594-604.) I'd like to demo their Figure 3B (p. 602) with R. That is to add plotMeans(...) with dots of BHH2::dotPlot(...) . Is there any elegant script to do the job? Thanks --------------- LI, Xiaoxu

Possibly a bug
I believe that I've found a bug on Samba 2.2.3a. Sure, there is the 2.2.5 version out there, but reading the changelog I couldn't find something that looked like what I've found. Problem is: Some files (very few of them, about 0,5%) are created, with 2 another copies. The file witch would be the real one is perfect. And we got "for free" 2 corrupted copies of it, with

Sharing a caching NFS mount with samba?
I am trying to set up a caching link between two points, that can be shared with windows and *nix. In both locations, I have linux-based servers with data, which have caching NFS mounts (that is, mount -t nfs -o fsc, with cachefilesd). These mounts are working correctly and I have tested the cache locally to much success. What I have not been able to get working is sharing those mounts with

strange mangled name
Hello, In samba 2.x, I had no problem with DOS name mangling. For example, if a file named 0613abcdefg.txt, it will be mangled as 0613ab~1.txt. It is very easy to know which file it is. But now in Samba 3, the mangled name is very strange, "0AFADF~1.txt", I have no clue to know which file it is. But I didn't see any configuration parameters to deal with this problem, anyone can

stability of using scheduled workers
Hi, Going through the archive, and just keeping a general watch on this list seems to indicate that there are some issues using scheduling with backgroundrb. I need a worker that will perform some actions on an hourly interval. These actions will require access to several of the models in my application. I am currently using backgroundrb to handle processing of files, where I spawn a worker to

Samba limitation/configuration questions
I hope you can help us. We've created a few Samba shares (v2.x) on an HP-UX 11 server and are mounting the shares from a Windows 2003 server. Generally it's OK, but we're having a issues and would like to know if they are known problems, limitations, or errors on our part with the configuration. 1. Files that end in "." (a dot) are producing short-name displays on Windows

Kerberos in OpenSsh 2.9.9p2
I note with interest that Kerberos support is now available (for the version 1 protocol, at least) in OpenSSH 2.9.9p2. However, it does not build with MIT Kerberos, due to the usual Heimdal/MIT library differences. These look, by and large, like the same problems I encountered when porting Dan Kouril's patch to MIT Kerberos - so I'm having a go at fixing them (my GSSAPI patches need

png()/jpeg()
When I execute the following code, it works just like I want it to: three pages of nine (or fewer) plots. However, when I execute the code with the first and last lines uncommented, I get three pages (files), but the 2nd & 3rd pages have overlapping plots. It's like a new page wasn't created. I'm pretty sure I've either misplaced or left out a crucial call to some

more mulitpage postscript problems
Hi, I posted a while ago about 'overlap' problems using png/jpeg. If what Patrick Connolly suggests is truly happening, I think the following may be related. My new problem is with the following code (the overlap is still there if I use png() instead of postscript(), compounded by the difficulty described below): tmp <- matrix(runif(16000), nrow=16)

Gluster performance / Dell Idrac enterprise conflict
I've tested about 12 different Dell servers. Ony a couple of them have Idrac express and all the others have Idrac Enterprise. All the boxes with Enterprise perform poorly and the couple that have express perform well. I use the disks in raid mode on all of them. I've tried a few non-Dell boxes and they all perform well even though some of them are very old. I've also tried

Some questions about R's modelling algebra
Hi all, In preparation for teaching a class next week, I've been reviewing R's standard modelling algebra. I've used it for a long time and have a pretty good intuitive feel for how it works, but would like to understand more of the technical details. The best (online) reference I've found so far is the section in "An Introduction to R"

smbclient -M --> ERRmsgoff?
Hi, I've been a Samba user/admin for about a decade with relative success, but now I'm stumped. I'm hoping someone might be a solution to this, or at least a solid answer. I'm looking to send out winpopup messages to our XP clients when one of our Samba fileshare servers needs to be rebooted. So I'm trying to sending the messages from a Linux/Samba server, which is not a
