Unable to connect to shares - Error about 'Domain Controller'
Fellow samba dancers,
Before I lose it, and teach our server to fly, I think it best if I ask the experts.

core dump after live migrating virtualized environment
Dear Samba-
We're using the virtualization application openVZ to run small web
services for researchers. Unlike other virtualization software, openVZ
uses the host file system for the guest OS; essentially the root file
system of the guest is a chrooted subdirectory on the host.
When openVZ migrates a guest between two host machines it uses rsync
to transfer the files. Unfortunately, this

Samba 3.2.6 upgrade -> smbd panic in printing.
Hello,
upgraded to Samba 3.2.6, and immediately printing went into coma. Observed
that printers lose their configurations (driver models, locations, etc).
And if I reset the printer drivers on each share, eventually they will be
lost again.
Looking at the logs we are getting panics like this:
---
[2008/12/16 05:12:51, 0] lib/util_tdb.c:tdb_log(682)

Samba quit working
I've recently developed these messages coming out of the log.smbd. I can no
longer connect to my samba drives. I get an explorer window, but no shares
displayed. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Samba 3.3.7 -> smbd panic in printing.

smb panic when trying to use printer (samba 3.3.11/CentOS5.4)
Hi everyone,
I recently wanted to try Samba 3.3.11 for CentOS 5.4. At first, I
tried the Sernet packages then I compiled my own packages but in both
cases, I get the same error messages (SMB?PANIC) when I try to
install/delete/use printers in Samba. At first, I thought this was a
right issue on filesystem (due to messages "Permission denied" in
logs), so I change many rights at many

Samba 3.0.25 plugin changes
Greetings,
Before I start digging into making our local passdb plugin work with Samba
3.0.25, is there any heads up I need to know about?
I tried to compile the example plugin in samba-3.0.25/examples/pdb, but it
fails. See below for a sample of the error messages.
If I try to compile the same example that comes with Samba v3.0.24, the
example code compiles without any issues?

Failed building 3.0.30 for tru64 4.0F
Dear friends,
I failed to buld samba 3.0.30 for tru64unix 4.0F.
I am curently locked to this os version due to other production
software.
We currently run Samba 2.2.8a but we were requested to upgrade by our
network group.
I downloaded 3.3.30 and did
$ cd source
$ ./configure
no warnings or errors as far as I could see, except
checking for replacing readdir using getdirentries()...

Winbind integration with large AD on Solaris 10
I'm having trouble getting Samba working on Solaris 10 with a large
active directory (35000 users, 5000 groups). I've set this up
successfully in the past with winbind enum users = yes and winbind enum
users = yes in the smb.conf file. Owing to the large number of users in
this application, I need to have these set to no. Realistically, only a
couple dozen people and 3 groups actually

Compiling Samba 4.8.3 on Solaris 10 produces "Undefined symbol" for tdbtorture
Hi,
I am trying to compile the latest Samba (4.8.3) on a Solaris 10

surprisingly well, up to this linker error I can't get past:

The smbd ran away with the spoon...
It seems that my smbd process got fuxed somehow. It appears to have
take up all the file handles, and there were over 130 smbd processes
running on the system. I'm not entirely sure what happened. My first
thought is that something bad happened between the server and the
Windows client that's running Kaza (with a couple hundred mid-download
files) and it just spiraled out of control,

Add Printer Wizard and Slowness
Hello all,
We have a Samba box set up as our primary campus print server, running
CUPS 1.1.19 and Samba 3.3.0. Our primary interface for adding printers
is the Add Printer Wizard. I am finding very slow response while
adding/modifying/deleting printers.
Making changes to any of the settings for a printer (default tray,
driver, etc) can take 20-40 seconds or will sometimes timeout, requiring

Problem after updating 3.3 to 3.5
Hi,
I recently updated my Samba from 3.3 to 3.5, and while that worked
fine, I can no longer access my shares - it asks for a password, which
fails even if I do enter a correct one.
Here is one of my shares - very simple, I think:
[myshare]
comment = My Share
path = /path/to/myshare
public = yes
read only = yes
writable = no
browseable = yes
printable = no
guest ok = yes
