ogg123 doesn't destroy shm segment
Every time ogg123 -bXXX is run, it creates another shared memory
segment but fails to destroy it on exit. Thus an increasing number
of shm segments keeps piling up and eat all the (often rather
limited amount of) available shared memory.
The patch below corrects this and also fixes the bizarre abuse of
stat() permission bits for shmget().
On systems that support it, I'd very much like to

Samba 3.2.5 and vscan-clamav.so
Hello
Recently I migrated from samba 3.0.24 to samba 3.2.5 on Debian etch amd64. In
old system I have working samba-vscan used with ClamAV 0.91. Now I have ClamAV
0.94.2. I compiled vscan-clamav successfully, but when I try to connect to the
share, it fails and I get some strange messages in the samba logs: "Error

PATCH: 'source environment' param and % token subs for 'netbios name'
Attached please find unified diffs against Samba 2.0.6. I'm hoping that
others will find it useful and that it may even find its way into Samba
2.0.7
This patch does two things:
- Modifies the handling of the 'netbios name' parameter so that
standard_sub_basic() is run on its value when the 'netbios name'
parameter is processed.
This has to be done this way because

password server problem
We are using samba with a NT4.0 Primary Domain Controller as a samba password
server.
Logon validation on the primary domain controller works fine, the NT machine
validates the user password.
BUT: On the NT PDC the event log shows numerous entries saying:
Unknown user or wrong password
Did anybody experience this too ????

[LLVMdev] struct type parament
Hi All,
I generated the following code with "clang -flto" command.
void test(struct StruTyName *a) {
...
}
Then the type of test function is "void (%struct.StruTyName.100*)" by
calling function::getFunctionType API.
What's the meaning of number 100?

[LLVMdev] struct type parament
Hi Mehdi,
Thanks for your reply.
It seems caused by random rename because I saw
%struct.StructTyName.692.475*, which might be twice renaming.
Does this collision occur because this type is declared more than once?
I encountered this problem when used clang to compile transmission 1.42
(http://download.transmissionbt.com/files/) with configuration:
"./configure --disable-gtk". Then

I tried to compare two types. Because of renaming, the comparison result
is not as expected. How to deal with renaming while comparing types?

PATCH: Performance improvement for parameterised include path names
I posted last week regarding a bug in the way that smb was re-reading
our config files every 60 seconds even though the files were not
changing.
As a result we had 396 smbd processes trying to read three files at the
same moment with the obvious load average.
The reason that all the smbd's were running at the same moment is
because the smbd's read the config files every 60 seconds

best methods for strings and structures?
I'm trying to generate an R interface for a library that's commonly used and
I'm currently writing wrapper functions for file i/o and return an object
(list?) that contains the elements of the C structure. For example, reading
a file that contains:
struct CONFIG_RECORD
{
char coeffs_filename[256];
char species_filename[256];

Problems with Excel & MS Word files (still)
Problem is apparently with locking issues, disabled oplocks in the [general]
section, and the problem actually got worse...
Here's what happens:
User-A part of group1, opens Excel file off of share, saves, exits...
User-B (or even User-A for that matter) tries to re-open same file, get
error stating it's locked and can only open for read-only access...
Both users in the same group, and

Rsync like Time Machine
I've been very interested in these discussions and uses of rsync as a
"clone" of Time Machine. A couple of things have been keeping me from a
fully automated solution. I'd like to eliminate the need for Samba/NFS
mounts of any kind, because they have proven to be unreliable for me and
under some operating environments (Cygwin) it breaks --link-dest. In most
of the articles

are new directories created inside the partial dir?
When --partial-dir is used rsync creates new or updated files inside a
temporary dir. For example the new version of some/path/file is
created in some/path/<partial-dir-name>/file and later moved.
What happens if a new directory is created? If
some/path/newdir/newfile is to be copied, is it done in
some/path/<partial-dir-name>/newdir/<partial-dir-name>/newfile? Or is
newdir

Help needed! Error in setwd(newdir) : cannot change working directory
Hi Guys,
I am new to R and just trying to write a small script to automate a couple commands. But I run into the setwd(): cannot change working directory.
I googled a little bit and tried all fixes/suggestions with no success.
Basically I have a script that works from inside a directory with my data (/home/sean/Rtest/Data01). Now I want to modify the script to make it run from the upper directory
