Problem with cups and samba
I am using RedHat 7.3, Samba 2.2.5 and Cups 1.1.14 I have the printers setup and browseable from a windows client. I can print to them, and the jobs spool to the directory defined in the smb.conf file, but they never leave the spool directory. Any ideas where to start looking for this? [swat] won't run
The only docs I found on getting SWAT to run, showed editing the inetd.conf file. As this version of RH (7.3) only uses xinetd things don't fit exactly. I have gone through and did everything that one should do for inetd and it still will not work. I don't normally use the thing, but this client will need the more simplistic interface to add shares, etc.

Strange behaviour of winbind on solaris 8
Dear All, I came across a really strange behaviour when using winbind on solaris 8. Normally "nscd" should be turned off because it's causing problems in the username resolution etc. When I turn it off I can login e.g. using ssh as an AD users but when i start a command like "ls" it gets put in the background immediately? When "nscd" is turn on and login again I

Back to 3.0.1, Winbind and Solaris 9
I've gone back to 3.0.1 to try and get winbind to work with my Solaris 9 machine and NT4 domain. Everything works except user authentication. The wbinfo and getent commands do what they are supposed to. I've included a truss of 'su - ganguly' According to pamlog, the user 'ganguly' has been granted access but it is still hanging. How do I do a truss of a telnet login?

multinomial MCMCglmm
Dear all, I would like to add mixed effects in a multinomial model and I am trying to use MCMCglmm for that. The main problem I face: my data set consits of a trapping data set, where the observation at eah trap (1 or 0 for each species) have been aggregated per traplines. Therefore we have a proportion of presence/absence for each species per trapline. ex: ID_line mesh habitat Apsy Mygl

Symlinks when building R on windows
I think this is more suited for the devel mailing list than the help one. I'm trying to build R on windows, With Rtools installed, and configure/make in R-3.0.2 sources folder from a cygwin console. I am stuck at the moment, because the build process tries create symlinks, and gcc build fails because the opened files containe the metadata of the not working symlink, and not the linked file.

Domain name lookup combinations setting?
I see in my workstation log trying to connect to my samba server an attempt to find my username. If I do wbinfo -u | grep -i davidsha, it returns INS+DavidSha. Do I need to change something so that it tries more combinations or something? I thought just passwords were case sensitive. winbind - getent passwd
I can't find the thread but someone last week was having trouble with 'getent passwd' not returning the Windows domain users as well as the local users. 'wbinfo -u' worked but not 'getent passwd'. I just finished a new server and had the same problem. Turns out I overlooked the the symbolic links in /lib. The file libnss_winbind.so needs to have a link to

CentOS Samba as Domain Member
Hello, I use CentOS 6.5 and smbd 3.6.9-167.el6_5. I can successfully execute wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g, but getent passwd doesn't work. nsswitch.conf passwd: files winbind shadow: files group: files winbind I read in samba manual I have to link libnss_winbind.so to /lib, I did that but it doesn't work anyway: ls -ltr /lib/lib* lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 28 14.
