WG: parsing fix for spoolss & samba-2.2.5
I can only confirm, that the bug still there (since version 2.2.3). I also have exactly the same problem. With samba version 2.2.2 was OK. I will be fantastic, if someone can help to fix it. Thanks! Windows Policies and Samba 2.0.4b - More information
Hello all, I wrote yesterday about problems with Windows policies and Samba 2.0.4b yesterday. Since then, I've had someone ask for a more detailed explanation, so here it is. Samba currently provides domain logons for a number Windows 95 and 98 clients (as well as the standard file serving). The domain logon currently succeeds, a user's username and password is accepted and the client

Documentation updates...
Hi all, Just a couple of suggestions for documentation updates. First of all, perhaps you should include the following about Windows XP and slow logons/long delays in opening files: Windows XP and slow network logons/long delays in opening files =============================================================== Windows XP includes a WebDav client that attempts to open shares via HTTP. AW: duplex settings [ was Re: parsing fix for spoolss & s amba-2.2.5]
Hi Jerry, It seems that the "samba-2.2.5-printing.patch" has only fixed the problem for PCL drivers. With PS drivers (Laserjet 4050 PS) are the duplex & tray settings still missing. Status of Printer Driver Settings
Hi Jerry, Just wondering how progress on the printer driver settings problem is going? And is there anything that I can do to help out? I'd be happy to lend a hand. Thanks in advance Glen Gibb Ridley College

nmbd strangeness with 2.0.6
Hi all, I finally upgrded Samba to 2.0.6 last night. After doing so, I have observed some strange behaviour. First of all, although domain master, local master and preferred master are all set to true, the server running samba fails to become the local master browser on one subnet (succeeds on another subnet though). The messages from the log file are as follows: [2000/03/16 22:08:50, 0]

unix password sync problems!
I have been trying for hours to get the unix password sync going properly with Samba 1.9.18p4 running on FreeBSD 2.2.5 I have compiled Samba with the ALLOW_CHANGE_PASSWORD option enabled. I created the smbpasswd file as ENCRYPTION.txt states, and can set passwords as root. However, when a user tries changing their password, it doesn't work. The error reported is:

Network Neighborhood
Hello, sorry for this posting, I know you must have answered this hundreds of times, but I cannot get my samba servers to appear on the network neighborhood on the W95 client machines. Can anyone tell what?s missing from my smb.conf files? The problem should be the same on all of the samba servers, how do I have to configure samba to show up in the network neighborhood? Thanx in advance. --

Case sensitivity and Win95
The company I work for uses samba to allow access to Unix files from PCs running Windows 95. When I create a file from my PC on the samba drive with a name including upper case letters, the name is forced into all lower case: I cannot create a file name containing an upper case letter. From Unix, I can create (and see from my PC) mixed-case file names. I asked my system administrator

Home directory problems
I have recently set a logon path = xxxx statement in my smb.conf file (this is for profiles, since it is recommended not to store profile info in the homes share). Since doing this, NET USE H: /HOME now mounts the profile directory as the home directory. I have tried setting logon home = \\%L\%U, but it doesn't seem to work. (and logon home = "\\%L\%U"). Does anyone have any

Supporting different groups on different subnets
I have a query about allowing different user groups access on diffeent subnets. We are running Samba 2.04b to serve a number of Windows clients. We have two different networks (running from two seperate network cards), one for staff and one for students. Currently, Samba is set up to allow staff to log in from one network, and students from the other. This is achieved by running two seperate

Roaming Profiles + Win2000 + XP
Hi, Ive got my PDC up and running under samba, it is serving several windows 2000 machines and a windows XP machine. The problem is when using Roaming Profiles....... Were using Outlook XP + IMAP Mail for the users emails, which works fine.... the only problem comes when logging off the machine and back to another. The windows 2000 machines seem to update the profile changes back to the server.

Win2000 Print subsystem shuts down
After installing print drivers to the my RH7.3 Samba 2.2.5 box, I have noticed the print subsystem shuts down, after receiving a spoolsv.dll error message (sorry, didn't write it down). This has happened on 3 different win2k machines, sp2. Once I reboot everything is fine. Ideas?
