Csc Policy
Hi, We are using Red Hat Linux 8.0 - and Samba 2.2.5 We are using csc_policy (Client side caching) to synchronise files between Windows 2000 Professional and Linux. The parameter we have in smb.conf is = csc policy = documents - it is having reliability problems, are there any other parameters which might enhance csc policy performance. Please help, Im pulling my hair out Cheers Thomas

Scripting rsync against a filesystem with a quota
Hello, I have a couple of questions about using rsync scriptographically. I've looked around and can't find anything. I must be missing something obvious. Silly question on DH key exch in ssh
Hey all. Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this question. I'm developing an open source Java SSH (v2) client API, and need a bit of help. 1) After receiving the KEXDH_RESPONSE packet, reading SSH Transport Layer Protocol (March 2002), Section 5.2, Output from Key Exchange: do I assume that, in HASH (K || H || "A" || session_id), H is a mpint? Combining mod_auth_winbind with other authorization modules
I'm trying to use the mod_auth_winbind module from lorikeet SVN to control access to an Apache 2.2.3 server. Samba is 3.0.23b supplied with Mandriva 2007 and is configured is a member of a w2k3 AD domain. The Apache users are using IE on W2k or XP domain member clients. Samba and winbind are working as expected, and if I just use the mod_auth_winbind module to authenticate the users

2.2.5 on SOL 8 - deleted folder reappears
I'm using Samba 2.2.5 on Solairis 8. I have a problem with W2k and WXP clients. I have a folder, in a share, that is protected against deletion by a non-root user. I tested this in the unix environment to ensure the permissions were setup correctly. If an NT4/W9x client attempts to delete this folder, an access denied message is displayed. However, if a W2k or Wxp client attempts to delete

Samba not visible in NN with File and Print Services installed on W9x
Hi, maybe I missed a recent "FDP" (Frequently described problem)in the list, but maybe somebody can point me to the right direction. There were several postings about not seeing Samba but none referred the the MS "File and Print Services" on W9x clients being the cause of the trouble (Hope this is the correct translation from German W9x). I've got a Samba 2.0.5a with Suse

Unexpected Tag Errors - Solution
Hi all. After weeks of debugging etc. I found the problem. It would seem like its a compiler error on SCO, because in line 286 of io.c - read_unbuffered() - it declares a 'static' variable (type size_t) called 'remaining', and while the ANSI standard says that static vars are automatically initialised to zero, it would seem that this is not always the case. By explicitly

PDF * powerpoint files need the x bit set under linux
We are trying to migrate to samba from NT4 data servers, We don't currently allow users the execute permission on data drives, so I have setup data drives with a creat mask of 0660 which seems ok. The problem I'm having it that both powerpoint and PDF files seem to need the 'x' bit set before users can edit or open the files. Has anybody else had this problem? and if so could you

NT_STATUS_NO_TRUST_SAM_ACCOUNT after temporary connectivity break to AD DC
Thanks Rowland, I have been using "idmap config xxxx : backend = rid" instead of "ad". So i understand that nothing is to be set from the windows AD side. and i am running wbinfo -t as root user. Few observations. * I have multiple Active directory DCs. And in the site where the machine is located, we have 2 ReadOnly DCs. * On capturing network packets, I observed that the
