Using rsync to syncronize two unmounted disk partitions
Hi everybody, I have been using rsync for quite some time, and I've realized it is a fantastic tool. As it is able to syncronize two CD images, I was wondering, if I could do that with a harddisk partition. Would it be possible to syncronize two partitions at device level somehow? I mean using: # rsync /dev/hda8 /dev/hda9 skipping non-regular file "hda8" where /dev/hda8

heavily fragmented file system.. How to defrag it on-line??
Hi, all, I got machines running continuously for long time, but then the underlying ext3 file systems becomes quite heavily fragmented (94% non-contiguous). We just don't have a chance to shutdown the machines since they are always busy.. I tried the defrag 0.70 version comes with e2fsprog package and standalone 0.73 packages, but neither help me since the defrag tool can not handle ext3.

lmtp and recipient_delimiter
Hi list, I have a small problem with recipient_delimiters contained in usernames. Recently I have extended recipient_delimiter from "+" to "+-" in both Postfix and Dovecot (using lmtp) and now any user that have a '-' in it's username can't receive mail anymore, because lmtp truncates the localpart after the '-' and of course can't find the first

Call Transfer Features
Looking for a liitle help if anyone has dealt with this; The options on dial and queue of t (allow called party to transfer call) and T (allow calling aprty to transfer call) seem to work fine (as long as you do not confuse them with the same t and T that indicate timeout!). The problem I am having is the use of the # key to do so. Many times a caller will palce a call to an IVR that requires

[PATCH] drm/nouveau/bios: fix a bit shift error introduced by 457e77b
Commit 457e77b26428ab4a24998eecfb99f27fa4195397 added two checks applied to a value received from nv_rd32(bios, 0x619f04). But after this new piece of code is executed, the addr local variable does not hold the same value it used to hold before the commit. Here is what is was assigned in the original code: (u64)(nv_rd32(bios, 0x619f04) & 0xffffff00) << 8 in the committed code it ends up

R-beta: 0.62.1 make error on Linux
I get an error trying to make R 0.62.1 on Linux (2.0.30 kernel upgraged from RH 4.1). I think I saw this mentioned before but haven't been able find it. Does anyone know the fix? 2.4.9-ac18; issues with '/'
Hello, I just went back to 2.4.9-ac18 from 2.4.10 (i386), and then for the first time migrated all my ext2 partitions to ext3. I did this over a series of reboots, as I confirmed that indeed things continued to work. The last step I took was to convert /. I have set up /etc/fstab to mount my 'ext3' partitions with 'auto', I suppose thinking this will make it easier to roll
