Slow just from a PC
I have a 10 pc network, samba dialogues regulary with all units but one.
The PC in question transfers at 1/10 of speed but it's just with samba and
against the samba server.
If i use FTP to transfer the speed is good; the problem is only PC3->Samba
server.
What should I do ?
Thanx for reading :o)

Permission problems writing to Share from SQL Agent
Hello:
I have a client that is using MS SQL Server in a Windows 2003
server.
They have a Linux machine (Fedora Core 3) that is acting as a file
server using Samba.
We want to write backups from the SQL Agent for SQL Server to
one of the shares on the Samba server.
If I set the share to allow guest access, the SQL Agent
can write the backups just fine using \\Shares\SQLBackups\pubs.bak
but, if

Stalled Authentication, Great Clues
I've just installed Dovecot 0.99.12.1 onto a White Box EL 3 server. I'm
mostly following the email server setup instructions at
http://www.wanderingbarque.com/mailserver.html and getting Dovecot to
work is the last task to complete.
I've compiled Dovecot with LDAP support. I'm authenticating Postfix via
SASL to the LDAP database just fine, and I also authenticate and

Newbie on Fedora 5
Hey Guys,
I want to transition from Merak to Postfix/Dovecot. I am not sure how to
begin. I have been reading the different Howtos - cocktail of services to
Postfix like ClamAV, Spamassissin, Greylisting, Jamm, SquirrelMail.
The thing is that I want stable IMAP mail. Here is what I want to do:
a. Stand alone linux box for email only - 25 users
b. provide IMAP and web
c. provide SSL

0.99.8-test3
It includes full LDAP support now, can anyone test if it really works?
It has worked with some of my tests, but I don't know too much about
LDAP so I might have missed something important.
The authentication problem in test1 and test2 is also fixed now.

This might be an easy question, but here it goes: how can I know the
quota of an determined user?
I'm trying to use maildir quota...

New Postfix + Dovecot + OpenLDAP + Jamm + SASL + TLS HOWTO
All,
That's a lot of plusses, but if anyone is interested in how I managed
to get all these packages working together, I just posted this HOWTO
to: http://wanderingbarque.com/mailserver.html
The Postfix - Dovecot - OpenLDAP marriage is nothing new, the twist is
integrating these packages with Jamm, a web-based interface for
creating a managing virtual domains and users.

Storing and managing custom R functions for re-use
Dear all,
sorry if this is a bit on the sidetrack for R-help.
As a regular R user I have developed quite a lot of custom R functions,
to the point of not always remembering what I have already programmed,
where the file is and so on.
I was wondering what other people do in this regards. A basic file with
all your functions, or a custom R package, or directly integrated into a
profile file

Occasional error msgs from 1.0-test49
I'm running 1.0-test49 on Solaris 2.8. MUA is Thunderbird (or mutt)
running on FreeBSD. I'm using Maildir boxes.
Occasionally, when browsing new mail in INBOX, I get an error back
from the imapd, displayed in Thunderbird as the following popup msg:
The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded:

suspected bug in dovecot-ldap setup?
Hi everyone,
[first post: long and boring. beware!]
I've been working on a virtual multidomain MX server with pop3 access.
Accounting for users/domains is done via OpenLDAP with the Jamm[1] schema and
dovecot is 1.0rc10 (dovecot-1.0-0_27.rc10.el4.at fetched as RPM from
atrpms.net for CentOS 4.4).
I intended to have authenticated binds but there was a problem with the

Preferred LDAP Attribute for home/mail location
Is there, among the dovocot community, any preferred LDAP schema and attribute to use for setting the home/mail storage location?
Some people seem to use the qmail schema, some a Jamm schema (whatever that is), and Markus Effinger has even created a dovecot schema (https://www.effinger.org/blog/2009/01/11/eigenes-ldap-schema-erstellen/). There may be more.
I could even create my own given we have

Moving file after transfer
Hi,
I\m writing a VFS module that needs to move a file, after it is transferred, to a folder that is not shared.
The shared folders that use this VFS module are used to sent files for processing by another application. The module signals the application that it has work to do and moves the file.
So far I've been using the last close call, moving the file after doing SMB_VFS_NEXT_CLOSE().

Samba4 on CentOS 6.3 - IPTABLES how-to???
Hello,
I do appologize if this is something that was already discussed somewhere else... but for now I was not able to find the appropriate How-To.
Would anybody know what the IPTABLES entries are to have working Samba4 Domain Controller?
I tried the following:
-A INPUT -p tcp -m state --state NEW -m tcp --dport 88 -j ACCEPT
-A INPUT -p tcp -m state --state NEW -m tcp --dport 749 -j ACCEPT

dovecot/openldap auth problems?
Hi folks.
New to both dovecot and openldap. Trying to set up virtual domains
using the wanderingbarque howto:
http://www.wanderingbarque.com/mailserver.html
Platform is RH enterprise 3.
Only difference is I'm trying to use phamm instead of jamm:
http://phamm.rhx.it/
dovecot doesn't seem to want to play nice with my openldap; everything
else (postfix, etc) seems to work alright.
