security=domain problem: "could not fetch trust account password for domain"
When configuring a SunOS 5.9 box running Samba 2.2.8a with security=domain, as per http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/using_samba/ch04.html#samba2-CHP-4-SECT-7 I get the following error "could not fetch trust account password for domain" when trying to connect to a share via 'net use * \\server\share /user:domain\username' However, 'security=user' works correctly.

Account lockouts caused by SAMBA + WinBind do not report "Caller Computer Name" in security audit
Hello all, We are troubleshooting an issue that when SAMBA is joined to a Windows domain controller as a member server that has password failure lockouts configured, the Windows security auditing does not show the "Caller Computer Name" in the event ID generated (4740). We are using Samba 4.6.2 from CentOS 7. We posted a Bugzilla at Red Hat here:

Follow these steps. First try this, Goto computer properties, Goto Change the computer/domainname. Klik more options. Check if the primary dns is set. Normaly its not needed to change things here. Remove the computer from the domain. With RSAT tools, check if everything is removed of the PC from the domain. Cleanup the DNS before you re-join the pc. (remove the A and PTR) Cleanup the

Delete machine account from AD to fix The trust relationship
Hai, Thanks for the reply. For the fix, i believe, there is work in progress for that as far i've seen. But i think Rowland knows this better. An other other options is rejoin again, but often only works if the "computer" password was expired and not updated. Then an simple rejoin works also. If this happens, ( i had this about 3 times ). 1) try a simple rejoin from windows

I had a machine account created in the NT domain and successfully joined the domain by running "net join MEMBER -S <PDC>". The timestamp of the secrets.tdb changed. I got the "Joined domain MYDOMAIN" response. I think there may have been some conversion to active directory but still running NT domains. When I attempt to run from Solaris "./smbclient

Hi to all, I have a problem with samba3 working as a PDC and can't find anything about this but it drives me mad. Perhaps some of you saw this before. Installed I've got the debian paket v3.0.2a-1. After creating a machine trust account with: "pdbedit -a -m -u MACHINE" it seems correct -> "pdbedit -Lv MACHINE" lists a "W" in account flags. But that
