Limiting Dovecot access by user-spesific ip addresses?
Hi, Is there any possibility to limit access to mailboxes by user-spesific ip addresses? So, I'd like to have a configuration which by default restricts reading emails to company's own ip-address range. So far, this could be achieved by a basic firewall rule, but not any more the following: However, there is need for a few users to access their emails from world-wide internet, so there

Two way joining vs heatmap
Hi STATISTICA has a function called "Two-way joining" (see http://www.statsoft.com/TEXTBOOK/stcluan.html#twotwo) and the reference material states that this is based on the method as published by Hartigan (found this paper: http://www.jstor.org/pss/2284710 through wikipedia). What is the relationship (if any) between the "heatmap" function in R and this technique? Is there an

Hey all, I just upgraded a very simple rails based website from Rails 2.0.2 to 2.2.2. When I started up Mongrel however, I got the following error: ** Starting Rails with development environment... "Duplicate workgroup names in browse list" problem reappeared in 3.0.5
Starting from version 3.0.2 (or .3?) there were a misfeature that caused workgroup names to show up as duplicates in workstations' browse lists. Fix for this didn't reach into 3.0.5-pre1, but rc1 had this fixed. Today I upgraded 3.0.5-rc1 to 3.0.5-2 (FC2 binary rpm from samba.org) and the problem reappeared. To be more spesific, the problem appears when there are more that one workgroup

Samba Compile Error on 3.0.7 and 3.0.8 Pre 1 on X64 Fedora
Hi Exact same error occures on a dual AMD64 Fedora Core 3 64 bit with samba 3.0.20Pre1. However, I have discovered taht putting the compile option "-m32" in the C compiler flags, which force 32 bit compilation, the error doesn't happen. The sad part of the story is that compilation crash later in the process. It may be a compilatotor/linker error when assembler code is created, but

Desktop-operations in Metacity and Compiz.
Hello, I'm developing a fancy screenshot application for the GNOME-desktop using GTK and GDK libraries (and some Xlib stuff too). When taking a screenshot of a window, my code first finds out in which desktop the window lies (resides) and then moves to that desktop and takes a screenshot. This is quite easy to do under the Metacity window manager, but I cannot make this work right in Compiz

FreeBSD - Secure by DEFAULT ?? [hosts.allow]
Hi, I need to know what the implications are to make use of the hosts.allow file on a FreeBSD Production Server (ISP Setup)? The reason I'm asking, is that I've recently decommisioned a Linux SendMail Server to a FreeBSD Exim Server, but with no Firewall (IPTABLES) yet. Besides the fact that it only runs EXIM and Apache, is it necessary to Configure rc.Firewall? or can I only make use of

Recaptcha (or other captchas)
Does anyone have any suggestions for a best practice implementation of Recaptcha (or other captchas - if you recommend going another route, I''m all ears)? I''ve found the recaptcha gem and a plugin but I don''t know which is the best implementation, and I haven''t found a thorough tutorial plus example code for either. Thanks -- Posted via

ldapsam, smbpasswd and posixAccount
Hi, I have a setup with Samba (3.4) as PDC with ldapsam as backend. LDAP is managed by Samba, no external helper scripts. When I add a new user with "smbpasswd -a foo" it works fine, user is created and the openldap is populated with samba and posix attributes. Now, when I add a new user to the directory by running ldapadd against a ldif file which contains only posix related

Simple solution for small network in a school ?
Hi, I have to install a small network in a school in a nearby village. The network will be Linux-only, one server and fifteen desktops. Here's the idea. 1) Authentication should be managed centrally on the server. 2) User home directories should also be on the server. 3) Users should all have disk quotas, something like 1 GB per user. 4) Some shared directories should be read/write for

list of symbols to substitution
Hi, I'm trying to use a list of symbols as one of the values to be substituted in a substitute expression, but I can't figure out how to write the correct expression for my problem. Let me illustrate a simple example of what I'm trying to do. The following code snippet will evaluate to '5': symname <- 'foo' foo <- 5 expr <- substitute(c(expr), list(expr =
