I will pay you $10US (via Paypal) out of my own pocke t if you can solve this CUPS & Samba problem.
Nope, doesn't work, and I need the drivers to be available and read from the
linux server. The PPD files do contain one which is specific to my printer
and has worked on another machine.

gamma distribution
Hi R Users
This is a code I wrote and just want to confirm if the first 1000 values are raw
gamma (z) and the next 1000 values are transformed gamma (k) or not. As I get
2000 rows once I import into excel, the p - values beyond 1000 dont look that
good, they are very high.

Scoping rule problem -- solved
Thanks to some comments from Brian D. Ripley, I found my error:
I should not have given a data argument to lm() after creating a
formula-object. This obviously confused things...
Thanks again, I've really learnt again a bit more on R-programming...
Cheers, Winfried

startup script for icecast
Hello,
I was wondering about the feasibility of including a startup script for
icecast for redhat/fedora installs? I've had to do an rpm install on an fc4
box, and a source install, rpms couldn't be found for an rh9 machine, yah i
know that's old. And in both cases i had to drop in a custom-made startup
script, see below. I was wondering esepcially in the case of the rpm, and

latest samba_2_2 problem
Just tried the latest cvs samba_2_2 (trying to avoid the winbind memory leak thing).
It configured, compiled and installed fine, but when it came up there was an issue. When my Windows users (Win98 ad Win2K) went into explorer, they could see no names on the folders in samba shares, just blank folders.
I quickly put it back to the older 2.2.2 configuration and everyone is back to normal. Was

complex subscript/superscript on axis labels
Hi All,
I am having trouble getting a complex subscript to work. I'm sure it's
possible. Here is what I have:
ylab=expression(paste("log ",L[peak]," [erg ",s^{-1},"]")),
I would like to have the subscript read "peak, gamma" where the gamma
would be the greek symbol. I do want the comma to show as well.
Thanks,

Perl fun part 2
I figured this needed it's own thread, so apologies for spamming the list.
Along with the /usr/share/perl5 issues (which I did kinda fix with a
manual copy of the directory from another box), we're having an issue
with SystemD (go figure) stopping the radiator service, but failing to
unbind the ports (1645/1646). It's complaining about 'killproc' not
found.

Need Help: Sometimes Stop during smbd start
Hi
during Startup of SuSE-Linux 7.2 Prof. the PC is sometimes
( 1 of 10 times) stopping by start smbd. Reset knop the help
only. I have this problem with the samba version in SuSE
package and version 2.2.5 too. In the file ../rc3.d/S12smb I
added 2 lines to see if nmbd and smbd are startet.
I see nmbd is starting always, the text "SAMBA smbd
gestartet" is in case of fault not printing.

Samba 2.2 CVS
Sure thing:
cvs -d :pserver:cvs@pserver.samba.org:/cvsroot login
<password is cvs >
cvs -z5 -d :pserver:cvs@pserver.samba.org:/cvsroot co -r SAMBA_2_2 samba
this will grab samba_2_2 and place it in a directory lableled samba.
leaving out the SAMBA_2_2 grabs HEAD.
you can get other modules as follows:
SAMBA_2_2
HEAD
APPLIANCE_HEAD
APPLIANCE_TNG
there are others but I haven't tried

Again: bugs in contrib/solaris/opensshd.in and buildpkg.sh
(Shame on me: wrong filename in last posting, now here are correct
diffs)
in contrib/solaris/ (openssh-SNAP-20011017.tar.gz)
1) buildpkg.sh makes wrong link for /etc/init.d/opensshd
2) /etc/init.d/opensshd has not-working killproc
here my version tested on Solaris 2.4 and 8
(no pgrep with solaris 2.4, XARGS was undefined, simpler
syntax)

multiple rsyncd daemons: init script
Hi all,
I want to run 2 rsync daemons on my system. Each has its own
configuration file, and they are listening on a specific port.
These 2 daemons are running perfectly but getting them started by 2 init
scripts is a bit more difficult.
The problem is that when stopping rsync you check the pid of rsync,
which results in both pids of the daemons.
Off course i want the script to be very
