Samba stops working on HP-UX 11
I've had a consistent problem with Samba from 2.2.1 onwards, maybe even before then, I'm not sure when it started. Anyway, Samba will randomly stop responding to any requests, although it usually occurs after transfering large amounts of data (1 GB+). To get around the problem, I've been restarting samba every night, but we still have the problem occasionally. smbclient shows:

smbd out of control processes
This is a follow on to the previous post about smbd bringing down a machine. I'm running samba 2.2.5. I've limited the number of smbd processes, so at least the machine doesn't stop working, but samba still stops working occasionally. Here is what smbstatus shows: atgdet05:/usr/local/samba/bin% sudo ./smbstatus -d using configfile = /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf Opened

WAS: Newbie: can't connect localhost:901 - help
Don't feel stupid. I'd guess you're using 2.4 kernel and not the 2.2 kernel? In 2.2 services default to using inet.d In 2.4 services default to using xinetd to start stuff. You need to go to /etc/xinet.d and make sure the file swat has a "disable=no" in it. As a matter of fact, for security purposes, I'd do a vi * in that directory (/etc/xinet.d ) and make sure

99% cpu usage help
Thanks. In my rc.icecast script, I put a >/tmp/icecast.out and a 2>/tmp/icecast.err to try and follow your advice. When I turned it on, I got alot of "You can run, but you can't hide" lines over and over in the icecast.out file. I tracked it down in the code and found src/admin.c was printing the message. The function handle_admin function has a while loop that prints the

flac-1.0.3_beta released
Awesome, I'm psyched for 1.0.3.... the ID3v1 winamp2 support will be a neat addition, as is the faster decodes. Will 24-bit audio play nice with the final public version of 1.0.3? flac-1.0.3_beta released
Which plugins do you mean? I thought I remember Winamp, for instance, being able to do word-length reduction on the fly. The only place I can find this feature is in the Monkey's Audio codec plugin, though. Anyway, great news Josh! Thanks for making 24-bit audio support in FLAC a priority. :) MW On Tue, 11 Jun 2002, Josh Coalson wrote: > --- Mike Wren <mikew@etree.org>

problem with seek_absolute in libFLAC++
Nevermind, I have discovered the problem(not really a problem). I had called: set_metadata_ignore_all(); because I didnt actually need to use the metadata in my application. But it seems that with this option set, "total_samples" is not set correctly after calling init(). Upon further debugging, I discovered that the test "sample < total_samples" was what is failing in

Can't write QuickBooks file to Samba share
On a server that has been running smoothly since it was setup, and with no changes to configurations or network or anything, users cannot save a shared QuickBooks file. they have been regularly using, updating and saving to this file for a few months. All users are able to create and update other files in the same share. I have not confirmed if they are able to create and update new QuickBooks

question about temporarily_use_uid()
hi.. can someone please explain to me what does the function temporarily_use_uid() in uidswap.c do? I'm trying to build ssh-3.1p1 for dgux. the compilation went fine. however, failed when trying to connect to the server. the reason is getgroups function in temporarily_use_uid() has a limit NGROUPS_MAX. this is defined to be 8 on dgux(limits.h) but for the group I belong to , there are more

dde callback.
Well, I read a little and discovered that in February a patch was supposed to make it work. (This is why I am not reporting it in the bug report) Alas, while trying to run Solid Edge V10, I received the following message: fixme:ddeml:DdeEnableCallback (1, 0x0, 8) stub Do I need to enable something in the config? Compuserve through wine
Has anybody had success in running Compuserve or a related program through their fake_windows drive? I think that the main problems would be a) Compuserve's proprietary dialer b)Compuserve's proprietary browser c)Compuserve's proprietary timing mechanism ( that measures how long you've been online) d) A failure of the fstab in fake_windows to recognize your modem as a valid

The Samba net command (from the HEAD) sounds great, but it doesn't seem to compile with OpenLDAP version 2.1.1 Beta. does rpcclient support ntlmv2?
Is there a way to make rpcclient support ntlmv2? When I configure my server to only accept ntlmv2 logins, my rpcclient stops working. I tried the approach needed to make TNG's rpcclient use ntlmv2 (a line like "client ntlmv2 = auto" in smb.conf), but it didn't work. Thanks, Dave __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002
