Win98 not transmitting passwd to samba server
Hello
I cannot get my Windows98 machines to connect to my Samba server(2.2.4)
shares. It appears that my Win machines are not transmitting the password.
The Samba server looks OK. On the server machine, "smbclient -L <server> -U
user1" prompts me for a passwd, then, after authentication, displays the
shares. When I attempt to map a share from my Win machines, the samba log

2.2.3a connection failure from XP to 10.3.4
Hello from a neophyte!
Is there a diagnostic programme which can be run to determine if there
are any faults in Samba 2.2.3a?
I cannot connect from Win XP to my rev/b iMac (suddenly, maybe 'upgrade'
to 10.3.4 had some effect) and the smb crashlog (shown below) has a pile
of stuff which is incomprehensible to me.
Secondly, how does one upgrade to another version of Samba and is this

Problems with Samba..
Hi all.. Happy holidays! I am having trouble all of the sudden with samba.
I was running an older version and I suddenly couldn't connect the mapped
drives this morning (yesterday it worked fine) so I downloaded the lastest
samba and compiled and installed it. Now when I try to connect to a public
share windows keeps asking me for a password. Also, if I use "smbclient -L

Segfault in Samba
Hi!
My Samba setup broke after upgrading Samba from 3.0.5-1 to 3.0.6-3 using
Debian apt-get upgrade. It seems to me, that the problems lies within
winbind. Any help would be appreciated!

Samba segment faulting - unknown cause
Hello,
Recently our Samba server has started segment faulting. It happens occasionally, but is often enough to cause disruption.
People notice thier network drives freeze, I am unsure of the cause of the segment fault, and have no experience debugging backtraces.
Can anoyone lend a hand?

Printing W2K net use lpt
Hello,
I've got a problem with printing on a Windows 2K box. Printing from
that box to a samba server via the normal print mechanism works fine.
The problem is when the person needs to print to a lpt port. The
capture succeeds, but when the file is copied to lpt2 it never gets
printed.
There are other machines that can do the capture and copy to the lpt
port but they are Win 9x. The

TFTP Server
G'Day All,
Can anyone give me some direction in setting up the TFTP server on my
RadHat ES3 box?
I did quite a bit of reading, but I think I am more unsure now than
before. I found the information nebulous. TFTP is already installed. I
am trying to determine where the root directory for the tftp services is
located so I can copy the CISCO 7960 firmware files onto it.
Thanks.... Ferg

Leopard Macs using Kerberos: Failed to parse negTokenTarg
I think I've found out why MacOS 10.5.x (Leopard) clients are unable to
connect to Samba shares when authenticating with Kerberos. Basically,
the
Leopard Macs insert a few extra bytes (Padding and reqFlags,
according to
wireshark) into the security blob within the Session Setup AndX Request
packet, bytes whose start tag is 0xa1, in a spot where Samba's parser
expects 0xa2. The critical

Cannot access share from Kodak printer
I'm trying to use a Samba (3.0.37) share on my ASUS RT-ac66R router as a destination for scans from my Kodak Office Hero 6.1 all-in-one printer. I'm currently getting an invalid User ID or Password error message. I have been unable to increase the Samba log level at all even after editing the log level in smb.conf. Before an old router running DDWRT (including Samba) failed, scanning to

This is NUTS!!SOLVED
Thanks everyone for your feedback, especially Mark. I now have the ALL
the files I need. My order still stands for the $8.00 product from CISCO
but the CP7960 dealer sent me all the files.
Now I will move on to completeing the setup of the TFTP server. Thanks
again

Win32 Gem Dependencies
Yeah I just noticed that the latest mongrel gem for win32 doesn''t have
the proper dependency for ''daemons''. This of course causes the require
to fail. Any chance at getting this fixed for future gems? :)

Rsync killed my server
I have the following as a line in a script kicked off from cron:
sudo rsync -e ssh -avz /Times_QPS/ 192.168.22.72:/Times_QPS/ --eahfs
It logs the output to a log file, however rsync caused the log file to go to an 80gb file and fill up my disk because it threw a mental when a file it went to sync was no longer there!
Is there some way to get the sync to ignore errors?

[Slightly OT] "Open Source Development + Tools" - Book/Resource?
Greetings all-
My apologies for the slightly OT post. My primary production platform *IS* CentOS 5.x with a minor scattering of 4.x machines behind firewalls here and there...
I find that I'm being placed more and more into a 'quasi-developer' role which strays some from my normal system/network admin duties. Specifically, having to work with the deep internals of make, autoconf,

Dear R users,
even if this question is not related to an issue about R, probably some of you will be able to help me.
I have a square matrix of dimension k by k with alpha on the diagonal and beta everywhee else.
This symmetric matrix is called symmetric compound matrix and has the form
a( I + cJ),

Help with concept.
G'Day All,
I have read a lot but still have not got the concept in my head.
My ultimate goal is to setup asterisk with VOIP at my job but am working
on setting one up at home first.
I have a 10/100 network at home with Cable broadband and would like to
setup a server with RedHat and Asterisk.
Do I MUST HAVE a VOIP provider so as to be able to make and receive
calls VOIP?
What should be my
