with heavy VM IO, clocksource causes random dom0 reboots
On Debian Squeeze (2.6.32-5) running Xen 4.0, I have created 2 Ubuntu
Lucid Lynx (Ubuntu 10.04) vms. The vms, in a stress test, pass a large
file between them via nfs file sharing. A previous entry in this forum
helped to establish that some ethernet cards improve VM IO performance.
However, our box installed with better intel nics is still rebooting
under heavy VM IO loads. The kernel call

bad performance on 2.4.23
hi,
- big and ugly mail. If you don't like them, delete it now :-) -
I have collected and classified some information of:
http://home.earthlink.net/~rwhron/kernel/bigbox.html
And I observed that ext3 performance is worse than previous
kernels(2.4.19...). -ac and -aa are here only as reference.
Complete information is in the upper URL.

ext3 patch for 2.4.6 (plain or ac1)
Does the ext3 patch applies on top of the newly released
2.4.6 kernel (and/or the 2.4.6-ac1 variant) ?
I want to upgrade to the new kernel and wanted to know
before I run into problems if there are any known problems
and if it's better to wait for an 'official' release.
Thanks.
Stelian.

[LLVMdev] Req-sequence, partial defs
Hi,
I'm having an issue with subregisters on my target.
With a pseudo that writes to a 32 bit reg:
%vreg20<def> = toHi16_low0_pseudo %vreg2; reg32:%vreg20 hi16:%vreg2
expands to
%vreg2<def> = COPY %a2h; hi16:%vreg2

CISCO 2600 - VWIC 1MFT-E1
Hi to all,
I got a Cisco 2651XM wired to an E1 PRI.
What I want to do is to pass all incoming calls to my asterisk.
This is my actual conf:
http://pastebin.ca/270677
with this I'm able to call my number from outside, but the call stop on the
2600, infact I can hear the tone, but I'm not able to forward calls to my
asterisk.
Anyone got an idea of my errors?
Thanks to all.

Decomposing tests of interaction terms in mixed-effects models
Dear R colleagues,
a friend and I are trying to develop a modest workflow for the problem
of decomposing tests of higher-order terms into interpretable sets of
tests of lower order terms with conditioning.
For example, if the interaction between A (3 levels) and C (2 levels)
is significant, it may be of interest to ask whether or not A is
significant at level 1 of C and level 2 of C.

ONERROR not triggered in PXELINUX 3.31 when ramdisk missing
Hello,
I tested some things, and found the following:
when the kernel image file is present, but the initrd image is not,
ONERROR is not called, and PXELINUX stays in the prompt forever ...
Other error scenarios tested okay, a down/unresponding TFTP server can
lead to 15-20 minutes delay until all tried filenames timeout out ...
Just to let you know :)

Calculating Gwet's AC1 statistic
Hi,
After searching the archives and Google and not turning up anything, I
thought I'd ask here.
Has anyone done an R package for calculating Gwet's AC1 statistic and variance?

Dovecot on Linux 2.6.0-test1-ac1
I've been using Dovecot on 2.6.0-test1 for quite awhile but today I
jumped ahead to test5 and it broke in the way you described.
http://dovecot.procontrol.fi/list/dovecot/2003-July/001943.html
I used your workaround and now everyone is back in business. Thank you
for the help! (I was sweating there for a bit.)

Heavy reports with a lot of calculations
Hello,
I am working on reports now where we are using MySQL (InnoDB) and Rails
2.3.4.
Tables are big and there are a lot of calculation with several big tables.
Please give me some suggestions whether there any gem, plugin, articles, or
techniques that allows me to create heavy reports.
I am even going to use cron job that allows me to calculate some middle data

iptables add - heavy on cpu time
I have a firewall (No NAT - just routing) configuration with a large
number of chains and rules.
I am now testing it on RH9 and it seems to take 100% user CPU time for
more than 30 minutes for the script to run (I am still waiting for it to
finish)
On RH7.1 a similar set of rules takes about 30 seconds to load (also at
around 100% cpu)
Is this a known "feature" or am I missing
