freebsd 5.2.1 and Samba 3.0.4 on fat32
Hi, Is there a known issue with FreeBSD 5.2.1 and Samba 3.0.4? I am getting file corruption when copying to a local FAT32 drive (mounted under FBSD) from a Windows XP Pro workstation. There doesn't seem to be any pattern in the corruption. If I mount an UFS drive, everthing is fine. I'd also like to find out if the corruption would also have affected file updates, and not just new file

Does anyone have any information or recommendations for ADSL PCI Cards for Linux boxes? E.g. which ones are supported? How much are they? etc. Dirk -- Please Note: Some Quantum Physics Theories Suggest That When the Consumer Is Not Directly Observing This Product, It May Cease to Exist or Will Exist Only in a Vague and Undetermined State.

DRAC support?
Hi, I was hoping someone had a quick and dirty (is there any other kind) of patch for DRAC support for dovecot. This daemon is very slick, and I wish to replace my complex courier-imap setup. Re: Win XP 'Network path was not found' Error when connecting to Samba s
Sorry, for the resend, but I found out another piece of information that may be helpful. I did a Ethereal check and then tried accessing the Samba Serve from my XP box. The Linux box got 3 NBNS Name queries on the Share Sambaserve and the response from the linux box was a ICMP saying Destination unreachable. Then 3 more NBNS broadcasts for the name query which Linux did not respond to. Thank

Win XP 'Network path was not found' Error when connecting to Samba share
I am running a network with 2 XP boxes and 1 RH8.0 box running Samba 2.2.8a (bin pkg). I have also tried Samba 2.2.5 (the included distro ver.) and Samba 3 (not in depth though). I have added my WinXP username/passwd to smbpasswd and to the Linux User list. I've tried encrypt passwords and have even tried playing with the 'gpedit.msc' in Win XP to turn off encryption to 3rd party

Removing requirement for local machine accounts
I'm looking for a way to not have to worry about machine accounts on the server. My organization is looking to move thousands of machines and many locations to XP and, if possible, we'd like to avoid the headache of managing more system and samba accounts. Basically, I'd like a way to say "I don't care who joins my domain, just do whatever is necessary to make them think they

Cluster Size discrepancy between FAT32 and NTFS
Hi, I am not an engineer or linux expert but I have been using syslinux to boot live disk filesets (extracted from iso's) residing on fat32 and NTFS volumes. In FAT32 there has been no problem going with larger cluster sizes up to the nominal maximum of 64K however, with NTFS it has not been possible to exceed the cluster size of 4096. With NTFS formatted using clusters of 8192 or larger,

Miranda IM: problems when running from fat32 partition
Hi all, I'm trying to get Miranda IM working under wine (wine 1.0.1, Ubuntu 2.6.27-7-generic) The problem I'm having is that when Miranda is installed in Program Files it's all good, it works OK etc, but if I install it on the mounted vfat partition and run, it cannot find database driver, displaying message: 'Unable to find any database drivers, this means you cannot create new

hidden files prohibited on FAT32
Hello. I have setup samba 3.0.10-1 on my Centos 4 system. I have setup samba to make a share of a FAT32 filesystem. When I want to write to this shared resource from a windows XP machine to change the hidden file attribute, I get the following error: 'access denied'. This happens as soon as I try to copy a hidden file or directory to this shared drive or when I directly change the
