Can't access a linux server using a Win2K client
Hello all. I am new to Samba, so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I have been unable to figure this out. I have a Red Hat 7.1 box (kernel 2.4.9) with the Samba 2.2.4-2 RPM installed. I am trying to configure it so that Windows 2000 machines within my company's Windows domain can access it. Before diving into anything exotic, I am trying to get this to work without requiring any

NFS cache flush tester
http://dovecot.org/tools/nfstest.c I wrote a test utility that tests different ways to flush NFS attribute cache and data cache. Please test in your NFS setup and show me the results, so I can make Dovecot v1.1 works well with NFS. Run the test several times (3 should be enough) to make sure the output stays the same, because the attribute cache flushes might incorrectly say "OK". And

Using win2k non-pdc as password server
Hi, I'm trying to get Samba on a Linux box to work. Authentication via user level worked fine, but what I really want is it to take user authentication from a win2k box, which is our "primary local server". The win2k box is not a pdc, (the real pdc is 2000km away, close to the polar circle), but according to the docs it doesn't have to be. So in smb.conf I put: security =

[ANNOUNCE]: Release of iptables-1.4.11
The netfilter coreteam presents: iptables version 1.4.10 the iptables release for the 2.6.39 kernels. Due to some mistakes on my side we didn't have a release for longer than expected, so this contains a rather large number of changes. Changes include: - various bugfixes, cleanups and documentation updates - a new "guided option parser" from Jan, replacing a lot of the

Using samba as a PDC with win2k clients
Hello Samba users, I'm trying to configure my samba server as a PDC for some Win2k machines. I'm running Red Hat 8.0 and samba-3.0.0rc4. Everything seems to be ok, when using workgroup configuration, all the shares works fine. But I cant get the Win2k clients to log in the Domain. It says I have a unknown user or an incorrect password. But at least it prompted me for a user/password, so I

log files created for both the hostname and the IP address?
At a new account where they run Samba 3.0.14a on a Debian server I'm seeing log files being created for both the hostname and the IP address. The log files, however, are not identical. But the timestamps are close. None of my installations have this quirk. If the hostname is resolvable the log is made using it, if not resolvable then the log is made with the IP address but not both. Any

Hi all I have got a samba-3.0.13 (hot off the press) PDC running here that also works as a print server printig via cups-1.1.23. As a backend I use openldap-2.2.11 What I get in my log files is what you see below. It seems this only happens when the user prints a *.pdf file. The message shows up once in a while, definetly not for every print job that gets submitted. Printing of those *.pdf
