Error: Kernel image does not exist: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.16-xen3_86.1_rhel4.1
Hello, I am trying to boot an RHAS 4 release 3 guest kernel (the binary release available through Redhat Network) from a SLES 10 dom0 host (the binary release available through Suse''s software distribution channel). Both systems are installed as physical partitions in a standard multiboot configuration on a single hard drive on a recent vintage HP Pavilion (zd7380) notebook PC with a

partition magic messed up my magic number
Hi, I've been foolish enough to let Partition-Magic move/resize/etc. my partitions without a prior backup. My ext3 /dev/hda7 (was RH 9) is no longer recognised by fsck. I tried fsck -b 8139, 32768 and 65536 - but am not quite sure about if these are the right ones to try. So far I created another partition with same number of blocks and did a backup with dd if=/dev/hda7 of=/dev/hda8

Newbie DomU problem
Suse 10.1 AMD64 Xen3 New to Xen. The dom0 is up and running. I am trying to get my first domU working. My approach is to use precompiled images from jailtime.org. After some manual tinkering with the .cfg file the domU proceeds to boot but stalls with the following error. I cannot get past this - any ideas ? Brian Using config file "/etc/xen/vm/vm1". Started domain vm1 Bootdata ok

ext3 and kernel 2.4.10
Good morning, I try to use the last release of ext3 patch with a 2.4.10 linux kernel. I have two troubles : - when the kernel is booting, I receive : NET4: Unix domain sockets 1.0/SMP for Linux NET4.0. VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly. Freeing unused kernel memory: 208k freed Adding Swap: 128480k swap-space (priority -1) Adding Swap: 128480k swap-space (priority -2) Why my root

Question about Journaling Root Filesystem.
I am trying to use data=journal on my root file system. I have separate slices on which journal=data works fine on all of them, except root. I have tried putting rootflags=journal=data on my kernel line in Grub, but I get a kernel panic. I'm missing something simple, I jut know it. It can't be the kernel version because it works on the other slices. My etc/fstab file is as follows:

syslinux 6.03 bug related to rev shadow and scroll bar with vshift
I thought I've found three bugs on syslinux 6.03: (1) With sample config file as is, i.e. leaving commented MENU VSHIFT and MENU COLOR UNSEL but uncommented MENU COLOR SEL: A black "border" is displayed below the selected line and on its right edge. (2) Uncommenting MENU COLOR UNSEL: This effect appears also on separators and on right edge on every unselected lines. (3)

FS locks
Hello, unfortunately I got some trouble using ext3 - the system hangs when working in a certain directory. Not completely, I can switch between consoles and reboot with SysRQ, but cannot do anything which requires disk IO: not start any applications, not umount, nothing. I could send the strace output, but I don't think this would help anyone. Sorry, but I don't have a clue where to start

Still can't write to a Win98 share! PLEASE HELP!
I've posted here with this problem before, and while several people DID try to help, nothing seems to work! Here's the situation (again): I have a Linux box (Mandrake 7.0) running Samba (2.0.6) compiled from source. I can mount/read/write the linux shares just fine, but when trying to write to my Win98 shares (which mount perfectly), I get "permission denied". This only

Strange Fedora Booting problem: can not mount "LABEL=*" partitions
Hi, Just got Fedora FC1 vanilla 2.4.25kernel+libata8patch booting problems, FC1 complains that it can not automatically find&found partitions specified with "LABEL=" in /etc/fstab, and then falls me into repair mode. In the repair mode I can mount it manually without any problems. More interesting are: 1) I have several partitions specified with "LABEL=*" in

ext3 and raw devices
I doubt that this is actually an ext3 problem so I'm taking a bit of a liberty, but... We have several machines that have two ext3 partitions (/, /boot) and a large raw partition. Something happened that destroyed both the ext3 partitions on all machines. I appears that the app writing to the raw partition had a bug that caused it to write to negative block numbers and that this wrote all
