R: Re: LMTP : Can't handle mixed proxy/non-proxy destinations
Hi Timo,
I'm writing to alert you that even in version 2.1. we have the error: "Can't
handle mixed proxy/non-proxy destinations" when we write to two users: one
existent and one not.
The error occurs randomly.
I configure LDAP query in the file : dovecot-ldap.conf in this way:
pass_attrs = mail=user,userPassword=password,=proxy=y,mailHost=host,
=proxy_timeout=600

Samba + NIS + ADS
Samba Admins:
This is my second post on this matter so my apologies for redundant
requests for help. My first request yielded only one response which did
not solve my current problem.
Background:
We have been using Samba on Linux (Redhat) for several years to access
shares on Sun servers. The Sun environment uses NIS/NFS for user
accounts and sharing (mounting) remote file systems. Accessing

CIFS proxy
Hi,
I need to run a Samba CIFS proxy (not DFS) in an AD environment. What we
tried so far is mounting the remote share with mount.cifs and "-o
sec=krb5i,multiuser" and share it through samba. But mount.cifs's
multiuser option requires local access to the domain user's kerberos
tickets, i.e, if I login as a domain user and run kinit to get a ticket,
everything works. If the

preexec and msdfs proxy
Msdfs proxy is pointing to another instance of samba servers, it passes
through.
I think running preexec there on the other instance will do the trick.

preexec and msdfs proxy
ok ok ...
Names have been changed to protect the inoccent.
This installation is being used to mitigate a server migration by providing read-only access to the new shares under the old server name. We have duplicated all the current shares on the new server (NETAPP) as {share name}_ro and created equivalent shares on the SAMBA installation as DFS proxies that point the client to that read-only

LMTP : Can't handle mixed proxy/non-proxy destinations
Hello,
In my current setup, I uses two mailservers to handle the users
connections, and my emails are stored on a distant server using NFS
(maildir architecture)
Dovecot is both my IMAP server and the delivery agent (LMTP via postfix)
To avoid indexing issues related to NFS, proxying is enabled both on IMAP
and LMTP. But when a mail is sent to users that are shared between the
servers, I got the

Q: Samba Proxy or SAMBA Cluster?
Hello,
we have here a SAMBA Server with Shares for worldwide Projects.
Now the problem is the slow access from some branches.
We have now the idea to use a CIFS Proxy or a Cluster to provide the
files localy.
The Idea:
The main samba server holds all files and all user information. The CIFS
Proxy in the remote location have a copy of all files and a copy of the
user database.
If a user

preexec and msdfs proxy
Hi,
The Server to which the msdfs is pointing is a netapp. Though we theoretically can access the shell on it then begin to mess around there, we would really like to avoid that. Warranty and such make it a bit of a legal issue. That is the reason we went with a separate instance in the first place and now wonder why the preexec doesn't fire.
There is nothing in tmp of the msdfs box.

WINS Proxy Question
I am running RedHat V9.0 with SAMBA v2.2.7a-8.9.0 on both servers that are
involved.
We have a fairly small network ( 500+ Nodes ) ( Mixed environment Windows 2K

SMB/NMB server. ( RedHat V9.0 / SAMBA v2.2.7a-8.9.0 ) acting as stand-alone
server: ( wins support = yes ) ( IP = X.X.X.2 )
NMB server ( RedHat V9.0 / SAMBA v2.2.7a-8.9.0 ) configured as
a wins proxy.

Hi,
I was wondering if someone had any thoughts as to why "preexec" doesn't fire when "msdfs proxy" is used?
Thank you,

serious samba+lustre problem
Dear All,
We have a really serious problem.
This weekend we upgraded our mixed 1.6.0.1 + 1.6.4.1 cluster based on
CentOS 4.4 i386 to CentOS 5.1 x86_64.
We reformatted all drbd storages, so recreated the whole cluster and
copy back from backup.
Windows clients reached the cluster through a samba server, but now it''s
just not working at all.
This is my smb.conf

openldap proxy cache for samba
Hello,
we use samba with ldap backend. All is working well.
Now the user count should grow to about 3000 users in a mixed
environment with PCs and terminal servers.
So the most of the users typically have (more than one) sessions to
different terminal servers.
The smb version is (tragically) still v1 and a lot of the clients
comes over a NAT gateway.
To reduce the traffic to the remote ldap

Dovecot as proxy for M$ Exchange mailboxes
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi list,
is there a way to use dovecot as proxy for m$ exchange mailboxes?
Currently, our clients not only can login to their mailboxes with
their e-mail address but also with their accountid.
Both the clients e-mail address and accountid are stored in ldap.
Now I need a way to let dovecot rewriting the client's accountid to
