cupsaddsmb - why the heck can't I get rpcclient-addprinter to work?
I can't seem to get the rpcclient-addprinter to work - grrrrrr It looks like the drivers files are copied correctly and the NT drivers are added correctly but the addprinter command says it's unsuccessful! rpcclient localhost -N -U JOHNSON\\root -c 'enumprinters' shows the printer!! What's going on? I've tried removing /var/cache/samba/ntdrivers.tdb

a change in rpcclient from 2.2.2 to 2.2.3a
Samba version 2.2.3a doesn't seem to work with the "cupsaddsmb" program available in CUPS... cupsaddsmb merely runs a few rpcclient commands. The verbose output from cupsaddsmb is printed below. This output is from cups version 1.1.14, but I received the same error from version 1.1.12. On 2 different computers - both clean installs. When run on Samba version 2.2.2, the command

Does automatic printer driver download from Win 2k client work?
Hi, I am playing around with automatic printer driver download to Windows 2000 clients from Samba 2.2.8a-1 which doesn't seem to work. Whenever I right-click on the printer and say "connect", it displays: The server on which the printer resides does not have the correct printer driver installed..... Here is my smb.conf file: [Global] workgroup = DEBIAN_FANS load printers = yes

cupsaddsmb - problem; once again
Hello, I posted 2 weeks ago this problem and it is currently not working. First thanks a lot for all the hints and helps. In the attached file I have added (hopefully) all informations. To summarize: I want to setup a print server, which allows the user to download the necessary files for new printers. Installed are (on top of suse 7.1) samba 2.2.6_pre2 and cups 1.1.15_1. Installed the printers,

strange anomaly/bug with cupsaddsmb and 64bit drivers
This is probably a CUPS bug but maybe not, I'll mention it here just in case. When using cupsaddsmb to install 64bit drivers the drivers must be in the (maybe distro/configure dependent): /usr/share/cups/drivers/x64 to be sure that's "x64" with a lower case "x". The cupsaddsmb app ignores the drivers if the subdirectory is named with an uppercase "X" (X64).

cupsaddsmb and samba
Hello, I tried to find a way to having the setup of cups printing working for windows client. I end up now with "cupsaddsmb -v -a -U root" finishing by "Printer Driver mesange successfully installed. Running command: rpcclient localhost -N -U'root%xxxxxxxx' -c 'setdriver mesange mesange' cmd = setdriver mesange mesange result was NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL" My

problem adding printer driver
Hi, I am attempting to configure our samba server for print driver download. The server itself was installed from RedHat 7.3 and has been configured to used cups instead of lpd/lprng. After studying the documentation on cups/samba, I decided to try the Adobe driver install. I used the cupsaddsmb program to perform the driver install, which works fine except for the "rpcclient

CUPS removal of cupsaddsmb
Hi All, I was recently directed to look at some upstream CUPS changes which impact Samba's printer server functionality: cupsaddsmb has been dropped via https://github.com/apple/cups/commit/f1def5b85f51120f5dc1eb21e1f38860ef41be9c Given that it's only just gone in, I wouldn't expect it to reach distros for some time, but I think it's worth discussing how/whether we should react.

Got cupsaddsmb working but the client PC download of the printer drivers fails for 3 out 4 PCs tested so far!
I have built a new CUPS print server on Ubuntu 8.04 server for our office (used apt-get to download the CUPS v 1.3.7 and Samba v3.0.28a packages) as a replacement for our existing Suse CUPS print server and I want to use the cupsaddsmb tool to set up printer drivers for download by PCs rather than using the Add Printer Wizard method which we have used on our older CUPS print server. Does anyone know what is wrong with the command cupsaddsmb is passing to rpcclient? Adding drivers through the windows point and print works fine ... this is samba 2.2.8a, Windows PDC. As far as I can tell,

Samba 3 and cupsaddsmb
I can't even get cupsaddsmb to work right. I followed the configuration instructions from the documentation, and my smb.conf matches what the cupsaddsmb man page says. I am getting extremely frustrated with this and not being able to allow clients to download drivers from Samba. With cupsaddsmb, this is the error I am receiving when it gets to this point, over and over: Running command:
