Winbind sutff (Squid and Windows 2003)
Fellows, hello... My first post. :) The environment: Samba 3.0.5, Windows 2003 (domain controller), Squid 2.5-STABLE and FreeBSD 5.2.1. I'm facing this problem: While trying to authenticate the users inside Windows 2003 through the proxy server, using the wb_auth auth program, i can see the lines below in my log.winbindd [2004/08/09 22:28:12, 0] nsswitch/winbindd.c:process_loop(726)

Samba and "running old wbinfo, pam_winbind or libnss_winbind clients"
I've just installed the Samba 3.0.7 on my FreeBSD box. I am trying to authenticate it to the Active Directory (for my Squid server). When I go to a webpage using the squid server, I get this error from Samba's Winbind: Oct 25 15:33:39 eclipse winbindd[61830]: [2004/10/25 15:33:39, 0] nsswitch/winbindd.c:process_loop(737) Oct 25 15:33:39 eclipse winbindd[61830]: process_loop: Invalid

problem with authentification and winbind
Hi, I want to use winbind for authentification. The samba server (solaris 2.6, samba version 2.2.4) is a member server in a W2K domain. I followed the steps in the Solaris-Winbind-HOWTO.txt of Naag Mummaneni. Joining the domain was successfull and wbinfo -t returnes secret is good. wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g shows the domain users and groups. But getent passwd and getent group only shows the

Samba 3 & ADS current capabilities [adr]
Andrew, Thanks for your response. This reply is actually not a request for additional help. After much searching throught the lists and Google along with a lot of experimentation, I think I've got it (mostly) figure out. This post is just an effort to help others who might be struggling with the same issues as I was. I'm sure it's far from perfect and if anyone has suggestions on

Configuring idmap for a Samba 3.2.4 AD member server
I'm hoping somebody can point me to the right documentation for setting up the following scenario. Earlier this year I had Samba 3.0.28a working as a member server of a (Windows Server 2003) AD domain, using Solaris 10 and Heimdal Kerberos. I was able to log into the server using AD accounts, getent passwd worked, etc. I was using "secruity=ads" with these settings (among other):

winbindd stays at 100% CPU having joined a domain
[ Please would anyone replying to this maintain the Cc list here as my dear colleague is not subscribed to this mailing list. ] Hello all, I am trying to track down an oddity with winbindd. We're using samba only to join a given domain -- so the config file is very minimal, as per: [global] workgroup = TEDDYBEARS netbios name = SMOOTHWALL realm = TEDDYBEARS.LOCAL security = ads

ADS mode - differences between W2K and 2003?
I'm having a bizarre problem doing authentication via winbind against a Windows 2003 server. Aside from changing the hostname information, etc. as appropriate for krb5.conf and smb.conf, the configuration I'm using is one that I copied from another server that is successfully authenticating against ads. The two systems I'm having trouble with are running Suse Linux Enterprise

Winbind error
I am having two problems with winbind. I don't know if they are related. One problem it that my log.winbindd contains this error and the error occurs every few minutes: [2002/02/25 10:03:08, 0] nsswitch/winbindd_group.c:winbindd_getgrnam_from_group(219) getgrname_from_group(): could not get domain sid for domain "KOK1 Also, my winbindd daemon dies a couple of times per day. Also seeing high winbindd CPU usage
I think somebody had a similar problem (also on Solaris), but that thread seemed to die. I've compiled (with Sun Studio cc) and installed samba-3.2.1 on a Solaris 10 x64 box, which is a member of a (Windows Server 2003 controlled) domain. I previously had samba 3.0.28a running on the same machine without any problems. Now winbindd is eating up all of the CPU (on the CPU it's assigned

[LLVMdev] Compiling LLVM under vista with msdev 2008 gives a few errors
Hi, i had the same troubles on Vista and on Win7... cmake fails on some tests (you should see this in the log) due to m$ UAC (or whatever the name is) and uses not-so-sane default values. You have to start a visual c-command prompt (to make sure it gets the right paths) with administrator privileges (!) , than cmake works fine and you get a correct config.h. best regards, Thomas 2010/1/22

Memory leak in winbindd
I'm running Samba 2.2.3a on NetBSD. I've been having an annoying problem with winbindd dying inexplicably. I finally found a test that seems to (eventually) kill it: while wbinfo -t > /dev/null; do /usr/bin/true; done The problem is a memory leak in winbindd. Actually, wbinfo -t will still work, but wbinfo -u doesn't (response.extra_data is always null). Is this a known

winbind with ADS error
RedHat AS 2.1 kernel 2.4.9-e.16 with kbr5-1.2.7 I've been playing with ADS features of samba-3.0alpha21 and am having problems getting winbind to work. I can join the domain: [root@asecl etc]# net ads join Joined 'ASECL' to realm 'ASE-LRC-AD.AE.UTEXAS.EDU' After joining the domain, I can use the other 'net ads' options of user, group, status and info.

[LLVMdev] pass case sensitive information to a llvm target backend
Hi Alex, That sounds like the sort of information that should be extractable from the debug information metadata. Once you're in LLVM IR, things like class names and source types are not guaranteed to be preserved in a reverse-mappable sort of way (from IR names to source names) in the IR itself. The debug information, however, is intended to do exactly that. -Jim On Oct 19, 2010, at 12:52

member server 3.0.23c drives me nuts
Hello everybody First of all thanks to the developer team in providing the samba suite. I have been running samba servers for serveral years now but 3.0.23c just drives me nuts. I have a PDC and BDC running samba 3.0.23c with openldap as backend and also a samba member server trying to run 2.0.23c. The member server is the primary file server so I can't play with it all that much. The

[LLVMdev] pass case sensitive information to a llvm target backend
Hi, we use the llvm to lower c++ code to c code which can be run through our abstract interpretation framework (based on CIL). Along with the c code we emit some structured text files that contain the "lost" information (class hierarchy, private/public attributes etc). In order to output this information in a sensible way we need to pass unix paths and some more case sensitive

mediatrix 1104
Hi all, I just got a Mediatrix 1104 evaluation unit -- a 4 port fxs sip gateway. There's no printed documentation shipped with the unit, but I have a piece of software for windows that shipped with a different model (which I haven't tried configuring yet), that uses snmp to set misc variables (ip settings, sip stuff, etc.). Fairly baroque interface & pretty slim on help...

Problem with Winbind
Hi everyone, I am having a difficult time with winbindd in order to connect to my shared directories on my HP-UX box. I am running samba 2.2.3a on HP-UX 11, and here is what's happenning: I can start winbindd (I'm using -i -d 3 to monitor it), and using wbinfo -u I can list the domain users. I have joined the domain using smbpasswd -r PDC -j DOMAIN -U admin%password, I get the reply
