ACCESS DENIED when trying to log into domain
I'm in the process of setting up a domain controller (moving from a
workgroup configuration). I've installed the latest version of Samba
(3.0.5), and have configured it to work as a PDC. However, when I try
and connect to the domain, I get an 'Access Denied' message after
entering my userid and password. Here's the snip from the client system
log:

Samba 4.1.6-Ubuntu on 14.04 domain join seems successful with caveats, testjoin reports no logon servers...
When I sent the original note, I had it configured this way:
[realms]
HIJ.KLM.COM <http://hij.klm.com/> = {
kdc = ad1.hij.klm.com
kdc = ad2.hij.klm.com
admin_server = ad.hij.klm.com
default_domain = hij.klm.com
}
[domain_realm]
.xyz.hij.klm.com = HIJ.KLM.COM <http://hij.klm.com/>

Hi Rowland,
Thanks for the response. I stripped my smb.conf down to the bare
suggestions and still have a no-go on the testjoin. This really smells to
me like a kerberos configuration issue due to the computer existing in one
and users authenticating from the forrest root. Unfortunately I don't know
where to begin to look for answers as the kerberos configurations I've
found referenced

Samba 4.1.6-Ubuntu on 14.04 domain join seems successful with caveats, testjoin reports no logon servers...
Greetings,
Long-time but very occasional samba user here with a new challenge (well
for me at least).
The basics are that on the domain join, the computer account gets created
but throws the dns error which based on my searching seems non-fatal.
wbinfo -t gives me a succeeded, wbinfo -a klm.com\\me --ntlmv2 works fine
but yet the net ads testjoin fails. Logs on the domain controller show

Hi Louis,
Thanks for the reply. Upon checking the URL you sent, I'm not finding
which stanzas you're referring to as being samba3 - my smb.conf looks
remarkably similar to the sample I see there. Could you perhaps be more
specific?
Thanks,

Advanced printers shares
Hi
Here the problem. I am using samba 2.0.10 on sparc Solaris 8 platform in a
Nis env. Currently we have about 100 or so printers listed in printers.conf
nis map, these printers cover our 5 sites which all use the same nis env.
Each site has one Domain master, and a local master on any separate subnets,
as not all is in the same domain.
When ours users log into a samba server they are

xe vdi-create failure ot local SR type=file and type=ext
Hi,

VDI Creation failed [opterr=error 127]
I am on Debian box with kernel 3.3.0-rc7, Xen version 4.1.2 (Debian
4.1.2-2.1), Xen-API Version: 1.3.2-4 (Kronos)
Is it a bug, or am I missing something? Anybody managed to workaround
this problem?

The log snippet doesn''t have the detail in it - have a look in /var/log/SMlog - you might find something more useful in there.

Drop in NT print server replacement; NT print names and NT share names-how to handle with Samba
Hello samba list members,
I am going to be replacing out NT print server with a
linux/samba solution. My main problem/question is how
will the NT clients deal with the Samba server when
the following facts are true.
1. NT creates an NT printer name
2. When you actually share the printer, you can create
a totally different share name.
For example we have the following printer, (and

Upgrade from 2.2.8a to 3.0.0 fails
Hi,
I tried to upgrade samba on a Linux from 2.2.8a to 3.0.0, and after the
upgrade the printer sharing fails. I would like to participate in the
search for the bug (if it is a bug), but I don't know how to start.
If this is not a bug I would like to know why not, and how to work
around, that the printer does not work with the attached smb.conf, while
it works with samba version 2.2.8a
