TR: File system error (1026) - Win98 FR&EN and extended character s
This issue might interest you, because it solves filenaming incompatibilities between Windows (in different languages), and Samba. In fact, the problem is in Windows, and not in Samba (surprising, isn't it ? ;-) By the way, thanks to you for your documentation, which helped me a lot resolving this issue. Sharing of Directories & assigning group permissions to directories
Hi Everyone, This is a follow-up question on Samba. After doing rpm to reinstall the dependencies on libcups.so.2 and libssl.so.2. Samba went on fine. My question is regarding Client machines Win98 could not log on to the samba server. This gave me an error message --> The share name was not found. Be sure you typed it correctly. As far as I can remember I did the following on my samba box.

ruby in the enterprise
Hi all, please forgive me for such a newbie question, but I thought it would best to tap the wealth of experience here. I''m a new Rails guy but I''m evaluating frameworks for use in an intranet at a back whose internal systems are Oracle on linux. For now all my data will be on a dedicated box but down the road I may need to make calls into other databases hosted on other

[PATCH] add more PHONY targets to $(PHONY)
make-3.81 excludes PHONY dependencies from $?, make 3.82+ includes them. This leads to always rebuilding klibc targets that depend on .PHONY dependencies. From the make 3.82 release notes https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/info-gnu/2010-07/msg00023.html: * WARNING: Backward-incompatibility! The '$?' variable now contains all prerequisites that caused the target to be

"don't descend"
What is the intended implementation of "don't descend". a) treat all files that are in the "don't descend hierarchy as "no such file" (or equivelent) or b) disable opendir() on "don't descent directories", but allow (for example) stats on files that are in the "don't descend directories" I would have expected the 1st. Polymorphic naming difficulties
Hi all. I''m having a problem naming a polymorphic relationship. Here''s my thinking... First, an analogy. You''re walking through the mall. Through a window you see a game you''re interested. I''m attempting to model the relationship between your interest and the game you''re interested in. I have an InterestList. It''s job is to maintain

request_oplock_break - a clue - what does it mean ?
Hi all, I increased the log level, and found something very interesting out. I know now what causes a sbmd to go into infinite hibernation on Solaris. I do not know why, it is probably something Solaris specific, I thought that a "dont descend" would have resolved my problem, but it has not. details at the end. hi, all: I need to back up about 50 files, the size of which won't exceed 5m, every 10~15 minutes to four remote machines. The back up command is written in a shell script file and was executed by the scheduling program with system() function. The scheduling program is implemented with c++. The command as follow: *rsync -az /home/admin/service/* admin at

Directory with large number of files (follow-up)
Hello all, This is a follow-up to my post a few weeks ago about poor performance when serving files from a directory with a large number of files (in this case over 600 000 files). I traced this down to two places in the code: 1) The trans2 routine get_lanman2_dir_entry loops through the entire directory looking for possible matches. I can see why this is the best idea for the general case

For example I normally do something like >source("myfunctions.R") >function1("height", "weight") myfunctions.R is a large R source file that contains many functions. function1 is the "main" function in myfunctions.R. It calls many other user-written functions that are also in

oddcast plugin behaviors
hi oddsock, Your oddcast plugin is very good, currently is able to connect to icecast, icecast2 and shotcast servers; that's way is very usefull. Well, I know you know all that... :-) But I have some problems with it: <p>1-The plugin always try to attach to winamp, so when winamp is minimized or moved, oddcast's window does it too. At this point, all ok. What about if the plugin
