- Win2k local groups and domain groups on linux PDC
I am currently running Samba 2.2.4 on a RH 7.1 box acting as a PDC with two Win2k test clients attaching to it. Users authenticate to the PDC via an LDAP server running on the PDC and that works ok. I can also join the domain with no problems. What I am trying to accomplish is to have a domain user or better yet a group of domain users, be able to log into the win2k box and have the linux

Two samba servers running in the same network
Hi all! I have a little doubt, and hope that someone can answer me... Let's take the example. I have one master samba, where all my users logs in. And how can I solve the problem if there is a case like that: Two samba servers. One use called "johndoe" One is the master, the other server is a kind of slave... The user johndoe will try to athenticate on the master samba server.

authenticating from another samba server
Hi, I have a server, snap1 10.8.5.10, that runs samba, and have users created by using useradd (but not added them to snap1's smbpasswd). I'd like for users on our primary samba server, archives1 10.8.5.2, to be able to type in \\snap1\username in windows and have the snap1 server take them to their home directory on the snap1 server, but athenticate the users against

Cups printers troubles
Ok... here we go, I have a server running RH 7.3, samba 2.2.3a, and CUPS 1.1.14. All the printers we have are networked printers sitting off of Linksys printservers. On this server I am sharing all off our printers out via Samba. See my smb.conf file below. This server works perfectly. All printers are shared out successfully. Primary CUPS server: [global] workgroup = NEW

MS Office crashes on files from samba 2.2.3a Server
Hi, I use a RH7.2++ samba-2.2.3a-6, kernel-2.4.9-7 PDC configured server. If I open a MS Office file (word/excel), the changes can be saved, but closing the application crashes it. I'v read about oplock problems on this list and in the net; the only solution was to update to 2.2.5 and may be to RH 7.3++. I set oplocks = no, level2 oplocks = no (GLOBAL), hoping that would help - but it

Home directories on AD/Samba
I just set up our Samba-Server to athenticate over Active Directory (Win 2003). But there is one thing that bothers me: There are no home-directories for the domain users, that waere added to the linux passwd database (EXAMPLE.COM+user1 can be authenticated, but has no home on the Linux-box). If I create a share home, nobody can open it, because it cannot be found. Only if I set the path option,

speed and connection problems after samba upgrade - RH 5 -> RH 5.1, samba 3.0.23c -> 3.0.25b
Hi, recently we upgraded a central RHEL 5 fileserver to the latest RH EL 5.1 rpms, including samba. (samba-3.0.23c-2.el5.2 update to samba-3.0.25b-1.el5_1.4) Now some users have the problem, that opening a word or excel file saved on a samba share takes up to 30 seconds. Today I could verify this on the users desktop XP PC. This problem occures only from time to time, so it may be also a

samba NT ACL support problem?
Recently, a problem developed in storing IE5's Temporary Internet Files on our samba exported network scratch space. In tracking it down, I found that the Win2k client attempts to set the ACL of the file "Content.IE5/index.dat". However, the this call ends up setting the mode of index.dat to 0407 (-r-----rwx), thus making the file unmodifiable to the user who created it. (This in

Smbd processes out of control
In the past few months we have seen a couple of our production servers crash that are running samba-3.0.14a-1. What seems to happen is the smbd pid's seem to grow and grow until an out of memory error occurs and the smbd process just hangs. A simple restart does not even clear out the pid's. I end up rebooting to just clear it all out and start fresh. It probably has happened at

Weibull survival regression
Dear R users, Please can you help me with a relatively straightforward problem that I am struggling with? I am simply trying to plot a baseline survivor and hazard function for a simple data set of lung cancer survival where `futime' is follow up time in months and status is 1=dead and 0=alive. Using the survival package: lung.wbs <- survreg( Surv(futime, status)~ 1, data=lung,

Problems with coxph and survfit in a stratified model with interactions
I?m trying to set up proportional hazard model that is stratified with respect to covariate 1 and has an interaction between covariate 1 and another variable, covariate 2. Both variables are categorical. In the following, I try to illustrate the two problems that I?ve encountered, using the lung dataset. The first problem is the warning: To me, it seems that there are too many dummies

Issue with data() function
I found an issue with the data() command this evening when working on the survival package. 1. I have a lot of data sets in the package, almost all used in at least one vignette, help file, or test.? As a space saving measure, I have bundled many of them together, i.e., the file data/cancer.rda contains 19 data sets, many of them small. The resulting file (using xz compression) is quite a bit

"order" issue
Hi everybody, this is a real dummy thing. I sorted a matrix based on a given column, and what I get is right, until it comes to columns of negative and positive values; than, "order" orders everything from max to min in the negative values, and then AGAIN from max to min in the positive values!!! Why isn't everything order from max to min, and that's it? Thank you!!! Attached

survreg and pweibull
Dear all - I have followed the thread the reply to which was lead by Thomas Lumley about using pweibull to generate fitted survival curves for survreg models. http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/04/11/7766.html Using the lung data set, data(lung) lung.wbs <- survreg( Surv(time, status)~ 1, data=lung, dist='weibull') curve(pweibull(x, scale=exp(coef(lung.wbs)),

Obtaining value of median survival for survfit function to use in calculation
Hi, I'm sure this should be simple but I can't figure it out! I want to get the median survival calculated by the survfit function and use the value rather than just be able to print it. Something like this: library(survival) data(lung) lung.byPS = survfit(Surv (time, status) ~ ph.ecog, data=lung) # lung.byPS Call: survfit(formula = Surv(time, status) ~ ph.ecog, data = lung) 1

Agile Web Development with Rails
Hi, I''m new to Ruby, Rails and MySQL... Before Dropping my database, I went back to a previous Grant problem. On page 54, there are three create database commands...these all worked fine for me. I then tried the following Grant command: Grant all on depot_development.* to ''dave''@''localhost''; I got back the following error message: Error 1133 (42000):

RH 7.3 + Samba DC
Hi All, very new to the linux thing. I have tried our local linux list but no luck. I have setup Samba on the box which is running Rh7.3 with Samba 2.2.3a-6 (server/common & client) I got a tut from IBMs site on how to setup a pdc with samba and redhat. I followed the tut step for step but still when I want to login on wind98 onto the box I get a message that the pdc is not found. When I
