2.2.3a PDC Win2K Citrix Profiles
This weekend I upgraded SAMBA from 2.2.2 to 2.2.3a then made it the PDC on our LAN. Original PDC was an NT4 Server. There is a Win2K Server running Citrix Metaframe-XP, and the old NT4 PDC Server was replaced with another Win2K Server to be the Database Server. I didn't want to bother with setting Win2K up as a DNS and DFS/ADS Server (required for being a PDC), so selected to make SAMBA the

Passwords Incorrect
I have been using NT for over 7 years and Linux for 2 years. I have 4 different SAMBA installations working great - some stand alone and some part of an NT domain. I recently installed RedHat 7.0 on a new server and set up a simple SAMBA server as shown in the config below. Most clients are W95 with a couple of W98 which I set the registry to support unencrypted passwords. Users that are part of

NMBD Not Starting
I moved an entire RH 6.2 server from one CPU to a new one using a tape backup/restore. Everything from the old server is working on the new server, but when SysV starts up smb, the nmbd daemon (2.0.6) exits with an error: create_subnets: No local interfaces! eth0 has already started according to the logs and console. Any ideas? Thanks. ______________________ Greg Kelley, IT Director SSA, EAA,

[R-1.4.0] minimum spanning tree of large ontology
Dear all, I have an ontology which I would like to load in R to then compute the minimum distance between elements. Since this ontology is not only DAG, the problem is non trivial and therefore decided to use R with the powerful e1071 library (allShortestPaths) to do that. That method requires to provide a distance matrix between the various objects. My ontology contains 32768 objects and

Subsetting data frames without a loop
I KNOW this should be easy, but I'm stuck. My data frame consists of multiple observations from each of a number of stations, and what I would like to do is create another data frame that contains all the variables of the first, but only rows where a certain variable is at its maximum for the station. So, for example: > my.df stn obs v 1 1 1 0.26400396 2 2 1

Setting Up A Rails App With Passenger
Been trying to get Passenger installed and setup to run a rails app. Everytime I goto eaa.mysite.com in Firefox the web browser goes out to the Internet instead of serving up the website. Why does this occur? Below is part of the configuration for apache2.conf: ======================================================= # Setup a virtual host for the rails apps to run in. <VirtualHost *:80>

R in Windows
Has anyone tried to create dialog boxes for Windows in R so that one doesn't have to type in so much information but rather enter it in a menu-based format. If not, does anyone plan on doing this in the future if it's possible? Thanks. George (Kelley) George A. smbclient username not working
I joined a samba 3.5.10 server to a samba4 active directory domain. Windows clients can't browse the root of the servers shares (\\192.168.10.10 ) but they can access the shares if I manually mount them. The following command works on the server that samba 3.5 is running on. smbclient -U administrator -L 127.0.0.1 The following command gives a NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE on a client
