shorewall, freeswan and kernel crypto-api
Hello, I''ve finally managed to setup a firewall with freeswan 2.04 using the kernel crypto api (backported from kernel 2.6). (Almost) everything seems to work fine if I disable shorewall, but packets are filtered whe shorewall is active. I''ve already read a past thread on the subject and I followed all the hints and it actually partially works: my lan I can access the remote

please help diagnosing "ip_conntrack: table full, dropping packet"
Hi, I run a small system with an older version of shorewall (1.4.2). It has been extremely solid for a long time. But recently I have noticed the connection table filling up, which has never happened before. My guess is that the box is getting hit with floods. The system only has 64M of ram and the conntrack_max is set to 4096 based on the ram. I have temporarily increased it to 8192 so that it

Problem with sending mail from mail server behind firewall.
I am having a problem with connections from a server behind a shorewall firewall. Both machines are running redhat 8.0 with a custom 2.4.20 kernel. The problem lies with a mail server I am configuring which has been able to send mail to all hosts, except this one. The connection starts with the SYN_SENT, and then just hangs there. (telnet to remote server on port 25 just hangs trying to

let's make it simple
I have not gotten a reply to my last post about not being able to access samba shares, so I would like to start from scratch. I am new to samba and I would like to start with a simple smb.conf that would guarantee access to a share by anyone, then start adding security measures until I have a secure working config. Does anyone have a smb.conf file they could send me that would get me started? --

Need a 'no password required' configuration
I am trying to set up a smb.conf file so that a user and password are NOT required to access the share. Can someone tell me how to do this? net use p: \\sambaserver\public asks for a password, then returns (regardless of the password or user): "The account is not authorized to login form this station. Samba Connection Problem
I've just set up samba for a small LAN. I'm running samba 2.2.7 on RH 8. Now I have a real problem that I have no clue on. I have VERY intermittent connectivity to the Samba server. If I left a computer (Windows 98) idle for a while, and then try to browse the contents in the Samba server, I will get this error " domain is unavailable" or "The specified network name is no

This fixed one issue - made the network shares appear again across all clients. A new one has been discovered though on one of our CentOS 5.11 boxes. Any command (like sudo or ssh) that needs authentication

Trivial setup question

NMB problem
I'm configuring Samba on a Red Hat Linux 7.2 server, for access from a Windows 2000 client. My server name is DEMENTIA, and it's IP address is 192.168.0.5. I've confirmed with ifconfig that the server's broadcast address is 192.168.0.255. I'm having a problem with NMB that I seem to have isolated to the following symptoms - After starting NMBD, I can lookup the server name

Simple networking problem - DNS
Hi, I have spent a fair amount of time trying to solve this problem and tried things like disabling checksums etc. The problem is like this: 1. I boot my dom0 without xend running and I can resolve and ping google. 2. I start xend (without and domU domains up) and after a while I can no longer resolve domain names, but I can ping the public IP addresses. 3. I start up a domU (xm create -c xyz)

Problems setting up bridge
Hi, I have a fc14 box with two interfaces that I'm having some difficulty setting up a bridge properly. I have a few kvm guests set up and running, but I've switched from using NetworkManager to using standard networking with a bridge. I've modified the ifcfg-eth0 and created ifcfg-br0 as per the standard documentation, but I think I'm having routing problems. This is what the

Samba won't allow PC connections
Hello list, I am at the hair pulling stage of this game right now. Having read through many of the posts, I still seem to be unable to get my samba server to allow anonymous connections ( or any connections for that matter ) from windows machines. All I want to do is have printers and one folder shared, all as guest accessable. I have made the security level = share and made the shares
