A little help installing on Redhat 7.1
I downloaded samba-2.2.2-20011013.i386.rpm and used "rpm -i
samba-2.2.2-20011013.i386.rpm" to
install on Redhat 7.1. I got a list of "conflicts with" messages on man
pages and samba did not install.
Seems Samba-client-2.0.7.36 is installed already. I want this to be a
node in a W2K network. Am I approaching this correctly? Should I run
the Samba server on NT? Can anyone

workgroups not recognized in virtual server conf files
Hi,
The documentation I've read indicates that I should be able to get Samba to
honor the value of the 'workgroup' variable as set from within an included
virtual server configuration file.
Given the configuration files below, if I comment out the
"workgroup = testwg"
line from the main configuration file (smb.conf), then a query of
the Samba server (with

Very HUGE binaries!?
Hi!
I've been compiling Samba 3.0.x on a Solaris 2.6 server using GCC
3.4.1 without any problem until recently... The problem started with 3.0.12
version, and reproduced in 3.0.13. Doing "configure" and then "make"
produces with these two versions VERY HUGE binaries! I'm talking about more
than 50 Megabytes binaries in some cases... With 3.0.11 and before I had

Cisco Gateway sending call to * without CID Name
Hi All,
I have a Cisco 2600 PRI gateway being hosted on an Asterisk server.
The PRI on the cisco is pointing to a customer legacy PBX, the SIP
VoIP side of the cisco is pointing to an Asterisk server (1.2.X).
In Asterisk, the SIP peer is setup with callerid="some name"<5551212>
In a SIP call from the cisco to asterisk, there is no CID name info in
SIP debug, so Asterisk

Win2000 sharing violation
Hi everyone.
I have a problem which I've spent many hours on and now I must turn to the
Samba community for help. Here's the setup:
-Samba 2.0.10 on RedHat 7.1 (Pentium III 933, 384Mb RAM, 100Gb HDD [40/60])
-Windows 2000 Professional client, SP2
-Windows 95b client
-Users of both Win2k and Win95 machines are mapped to user "aslan" on Samba
box, with no forcing enabled.

update to earlier error msg help
Wowzer, so I have *everything* working now...
tcp/ip, and the game itself, with the exception of keyboard, and maybe
sound.
Actually in the log, I don't see any mention of the errors for no keyboard.
Anyone have any ideas, on how to turn on the keyboad, er make wine recognize
it?
Thanks,

fixed, random effects with variable weights
Hi everyone,
I have tried to solve a simple problem for days but I can't figure out
how to run it properly. If someone could give me a hint, this would be
really great.
Basically, I want to run a standard economist's fixed, and random
effects regression (corresponds to xtreg in STATA) but with _variable_
weights (they correspond to changing industry shares in the market).

strange printing problem
Hi folks,
First of all I have a well-working samba-2.2.2-20011013 on a Redhat 7.1
with 2.4.7.
(Fast like a thunder 8-). Good job guys!) But. I have a little problem
with printing:
At my work we have only NT 4.0 workstations on our LAN with sp6a or sp5.
This problem is appearing when a client try to print onto a printer
attached to samba.
Sometimes. But sometimes not.

WAS: Call pickup (*8) on SIP devices. Bug #116
I've attached two SIP debugs in reference to bug #116. They are from
today's CVS build.
1. pickup.txt is a call from SIP(1) to SIP(2) with SIP(3) picking up the

2. hangup.txt is a call from SIP(1) to SIP(2) with SIP(1) hanging up before
the call is answered.
SIP(1&3) are Cisco 7960's and SIP(2) is a Polycom

CentOS 8: what changed (regular UNIX admin commands)?
Hello Experts!
I'm sure many of you run CentOS for some time already.
My question is: is there some place that lists which of the most often
used sysadmin commands are gone and what are replacements for them. Or
what else one needs to do after successful installation. (in the past it
was process accounting that was not enabled by default, but which gives
you quite some handle in
