FAST_IPSEC doesn't seem to honor net.key.prefered_oldsa=0
When using the FAST_IPSEC option in the kernel build, the sysctl variable net.key.prefered_oldsa seems to make no difference. The kernel always chooses an old SA. This problem can be easily reproduced. Just wait till the soft limit of the SA is expired and do a setkey -F on the remote and then ping through the tunnel. Because the old SA's are preferred and the remote no longer has the old

CIDR prefix with a non-multiple of 8
First off, I apologize for reporting a problem with a "historical" version of Samba, but this is what we use in our production environment due to some integration issues with the 3.0 series. I've been experiencing a problem with Samba 2.2.x when trying to use a CIDR notation for hosts allow/deny when that CIDR prefix is not one of ( /8, /16, /24, or /32). When I included a

weird postgres adapter error
I just ported my Rails app from OSX/Linux to Windows XP for the first time. I am running PostgreSQL 8.0 and the postgres-pr 4.0 adapter. Some of the queries in my Rails app work, but for others I get a weird error: ArgumentError: Invalid Ruby/cstring: select sa.name as activity_name, max(sah.created_at) as created_at from site_activity_histories sah, site_activities sa where

Remote subnet browsing using Samba for WINS.
Been experimenting with Samba as a WINS server. Need a WINS server as I am using VPN tunneling. My goal was to set up a central WINS server and have all the computers talk to it for NetBIOS name resolution. In the end I was hoping to have only one Samba server. I have currently worked with: Samba 2.2.7B on a uclinux. Samba 3.0.10 on RedHat. Samba 3.0.10 on Slackware. Samba 3.0.10 on FreeBSD.

Do I need a WINS server if I want to browse?
The docs aren't clear, so don't think that I'm being lazy and want a quick answer. (I'm reading Ch 10 of the how-to) On the one hand it says, "where there is no WINS server, all name registrations + name lookups are done by UPD broadcast." So then I don't need a WINS server. But then it says, "Clients wishing to browse the network make use of this [DMB] list

Understanding the role of DMB/LMB on a net that has a WINS server
If I have a client that wants to enumerate and access shares on a subnet, and that client knows the IP of the WINS server, is there any need for the client to use the "browsing" services of a DMB or LMB? What is the order of operations of the client? Here is what I imagine to be the case: 1. client asks LMB for a list of all available shares 2. LMB sends client the list of all known

Samba WINS Questions
Hi, I'm using Samba 3.0.21c with PDC and severals BDC in different subnets. I'm triing to use Wins servers on all the BDC servers and on the PDC. The problems occurs in the network browsing. I'm able to see all computers with the PDC on the different subnets but I just can see local servers in the network neighborhood on BDC When starting BDC i've got the "unable to find

How is to stop Windows to be DMB if Samba4 standalone server is set up for DMB role !
There is Windows 2008R2 actng as DC and Samba4 4.5.2 acting as standalone server in the same network. Samba4 is set up to be DMB: domain master = yes local maser= yes browse list = yes os level = 254 preferred master = yes enhanced browsing = yes Windows 2008R2 includes also DMB role in itself. As following, if Windows boots first, before Samba starts, it becomes DMB and has workgroup<1b>

Multiple workgroups : Multiple Subnets
I am still trying to make samba work over a WAN with multiple workgroups although I am just about to throw in the towel. I had hoped to find a solution that would permit a Windows PC to browse a (MS) workgroup (ie retrieve the browse list from the workgroup master browser for a remote (MS) workgroup when that MB is NOT a samba server). Since WINS only provides the broadcast address of the remote

2.0.2 servers with 1.9.18p10 DMB?
Have there been any problems reported with running 2.0.2 on servers using security=server with a 1.9.18p10 DMB? We've run into a situation where I've upgraded 4 of our servers to 2.0.2 but the DMB is still running 1.9.18p10. We have had sporatic trouble with the upgraded servers rejecting correct passwords because the DMB seemingly would not properly validate them. Today, we ran into a

[LLVMdev] dmb ishld in AArch64
Hi, I got an optimization problem (O1, O2) regarding memory barrier “dmb ishld” I find in the test/CodeGen/AArch64/intrinsics-memory-barrier.ll , it’s stated that memory access around DMB should not be reordered, but when compiling the Linux kernel, I found load/store in static inline void hlist_add_before_rcu(struct hlist_node *n, struct hlist_node *next) { n->pprev

Re: Questions about Samba and a WINS server...update
Ok...trying to follow up here and see if someone can help me out, and let me know what is exactly hapening here. I have a few ideas, but I wanted to post here. As I said in my previous post, I am having problems browsing the corporate network from a Branch Office. Doing some testing, here is some output from my log.nmbd on my WINS server: [2004/06/25 12:20:45, 0] nmbd/nmbd.c:terminate(54)

domain_master_node_status_fail: ... Cannot sync browser lists.
This looks like a bug to me, except . . . no one else seems to have encountered it, and it's in a pretty basic area, so there must be something wrong at our site. When the Unix server becomes a local master browser, Samba is unable to sync its browse list w/that of the DMB. None of our NT machines are having any trouble, and our tech. support guy says the DMB is in good health. Rebooting
