Samba + LDAP
Does anyone know if the binaries provided by the Samba team are compiled
with LDAP support? I've tried 2.2.8a and 3.0.0 for Debian, but both
complain that the ldap parameters (like ldap server) for unknown.

About timestamps in logs and zonestatus
Dear All,
Please help me understand why timestamps in logs are different from those
in nsd-control zonestatus output:

commit-serial: "2024022603 since 2024-02-27T08:07:51"

About timestamps in logs and zonestatus
Hi Peter,
NSD processes updates in batches. xfrd receives the [AI]XFR and
schedules a reload for the main process, which in turn forks new serve
children. The served-serial is updated after main reports success, the
commit-serial (update written to disk) is updated before the reload (to
explain the serials).
The difference in timestamp can be explained by the fact that NSD looks
up if the serial

Hi Jeroen,
I just realised that the version I use is very old -- 4.1. So first what I
should do -- updating it and only then come here , asking for clarification.

imap corrupted indexes
I've searched the archives and find a lot of references to corrupted indexes
but can't seem to find any solutions. It seems like folks either have the
problem or they don't.
We recently migrated from a RedHat Linux server to an OpenBSD 3.7 server (both
using dovecot). Imap was working flawlessly on the RedHat box but now gives
numerous index errors. I then upgraded to

Windows license required?
Hi guys,
I was just over at the Zorin OS download pate at http://zorin-os.webs.com/download.htm. At the bottom of the page there is a small paragraph of disclaimers, including this:
> You must also have a valid Microsoft Windows license to utilize the WINE Windows software runtime environment.
If this is so, it's the first I've heard of it, and I've been running Wine for

Rails Deployment: Book recommendation?
Hello,
I''m seeking a book on rails deployment (I think a general deployment
on nix book can helps too)
I need in depth information about Apache, FastCGI, (LightTPD maybe).
I was thinking always I know what a web server is! but when I think
more deeply about it (after reading Capistrano doc) it seems I need
more info about app, web and db servers. stuff like how to config the

Time moving backwards error
I'm running dovecot on an OpenBSD 3.7 server and after upgrading to
RC25, the daemon started exiting with:
Fatal: Time just moved backwards (1173221579 -> 1173221578)! This
might cause a lot of problems, so I'll just kill myself now.
After upgrading to RC26, I've gotten the error:
Error: Time just moved backwards by 1 seconds. I'll sleep now until

Boston Rails work/Meeting Railers
Hey all,
Been working with/excited about Rails since November, when I quit
working for The Man in order to freelance. Have a couple of Rails
projects completed. Having worked with web app dev since 1999, it''s
been a breath of fresh air. Now I''m at a point where I need to meet
more people in person that are excited about Rails, or are interested
in working on Rails projects in

parfm unable to fit models when hazard rate is small
Hello, I would like to use the parfm package: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/parfm/parfm.pdfhttps://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/parfm/parfm.pdf in my work. This package fits parametric frailty models to survival data. To ensure I was using it properly, I started by running some small simulations to generate some survival data (without any random effects), and analyse the data using

RSpec part of two (count ''em, two) GSoC projects
Here is the list of Ruby related projects accepted for GSoC. It
includes two very similar projects (seemingly the same project,
really, but I''m not saying anything ;) ) using RSpec to build a spec
suite for implementations of the Ruby language:

I''m, personally, very excited about the implications of this. Thanks
