ive installed samba 3 on a debian 4, the samba server should act like a pdc.
at the moment it work that user can login on my clients (all windows xp pro

Enforcing file access with ACL?
I'm running Samba v2.2.5 with ACL support for xfs from SGI
on modified Redhat Linux 6.2 running Linux kernel 2.4.19
with xfs filesystem support. Samba is running in domain
mode and my PDC is an NT 4.0 SP6 server. I'm using a
Win2K Professional (a member of the domain) to test things
out.
I have no problem setting ACL to a file from the Win2K PC.
For example, I allow only Read (RX)

I've tried this just about every way I can think of!
Its driving me up the wall, any ideas would be gratefully accepted.

I have a Problem with my local Fileserver.
Scince a few days Win98 Clients a not possible to access Directorys

Samba 2.2.5-10 and Win XP SP1
Hi all,
This is my first try on Samba as a PDC.
I have managed to setup Samba as a PDC for my home network. The Win98 pc
connects and validates no probs, but not the Win XP pc.
The acc on the linux system has been created and is fine as well as the
samba passwd's. The XP pc is 'changed' onto the domain with no errors,
with the user name that will be used by the user to log on the

Problem: authorise_login: refusing user with no session setup
Hi,
We are running Samba-2.2.6pre2 as a PDC with Win2kSP2-clients and we had
the same problem running samba-2.2.5 and Win2k. We had NT4-client
running previous versions of samba-2.2.x and have never had the same
problem.
Samba is compiled from source on Solaris8 running YP.
We have everything up and running but sometimes users get a dialog-box
just saying "Access denied" when they

Shares disconnect on XP when Offline Files enabled after migration from v2.x to v3.0.7
Issue:
Three WinXP Pro boxes using Offline Files disconnect from all
Samba shares when a user either performs a synch or accesses a file on the
share with offline files enabled. About half the time, being able to
reconnect for any length of time requires a reboot of the WinXP machines.
Disabling the Offline Files in Windows alleviates the problem.

upgrade 3.0.1 -> 3.0.2, problem with homes-share
Hi!
We are using Samba 3 in SuSE-linux 8.2 with ldap.
After upgrading from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 we got following problem:
When users log-in homes-share is not allways reachable, so automatic
homedrive-mapping and roaming profiles doesn't work. This doesn't happen
everytime, but quite often.
And after login users can map their homedrives manually.
Users have following attributes in LDAP

login on homes share despite available = no
Hi!
Today I found that a user can successfully login on a homes share despite
that share should be disabled.
To quote smb.conf(1):
available (S)
This parameter lets you "turn off" a service. If avail-
able = no, then ALL attempts to connect to the service
will fail. Such failures are logged.
However, see the following:

Slow performance
I have been fighting this problem for months now. My performance under Samba
and XP has ben umbearable. The scenario is running Samba 2.2.7a under SuSE
8.0 as a PDC. The XP machine logs onto Samba and the roaming profiles are
downloaded then stops for 15 minutes or so. The network is verified 100Meg
full-duplex, FTP transfers between the machines are robust and so no
problems in connectivity. Any

invalid HOMEDRIVE
Hi all-
Some recent change...perhaps a windows update, or perhaps a change in
the network on which I use my computer....has made it impossible for me
to start R. When I try to start the program, I get a message that says
"Fatal error: invalid HOMEDRIVE". Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks much

2.2.2 runaway SMBD process
Hello,
I am running Samba 2.2.2 with acl-0.7.16 on RedHat 6.2 (2.2.19). The PDC is
a Windows 2000 Server and the Samba server is a domain member using Winbind.
All the workstations are Windoze 2000 Pro with SP2.
Everything seemingly works fine but every day or two I get a runaway SMBD
process which hogs the CPU and becomes unkillable. The only resolution is
to reboot the server completely.
