which kernel should be used to solve sendfile problem on linux?
I have seen some folks on the list with what seems to be a similar issue as I have. I work in a large FX shop and this has been a problem for us since the 3.0.7 upgrade. If anyone has a known to work config, could you share your set up info please? Jerry what kernel, and other system bits versions do you test on? The system has a 2.4.21 kernel with xfs filesystems. It is a redhat 9 machine on

Sipura 2000 intermitent failure to register
I have asterisk 1.0.2 and a Sipura SPA-2000 (firmware 2.0.6(c) ). Today it started to log "registration failed" at intermitent periods. It registers fine, after a few minutes it can no longer register, then after a few minutes it registers fine again. I am wondering if there is a known issue with either asterisk or that sipura firmware. Victor Perez

Intermitent ''lost connection to mysql'' error
Hi, I''ve been looking at Ruby on Rails for an in-house project where I work. After I got everything setup correctly (apache, fcgi, mysql, etc) I''ve started to run into "lost connection to mysql" errors. I googled to try and find a solution, but most of the problems people seem to be having are constant and simple to fix. I haven''t found anyone talking

large data set (matrix) using image()
When I use the image() function for a relatively small matrix it works perfectly, eg.x <- 1:100 > z <- matrix(rnorm(10^4),10^2,10^2) > image(x=x,y=x,z=z,col=rainbow(3))but when I want to plot a larger matrix, it doesn't really work. Most of the times, it just plot a few intermitent points.x <- 1:1000 z <- matrix(rnorm(10^6),10^3,10^3) image(x=x,y=x,z=z,col=rainbow(3))

Popping and Clicking on Local WAN with X-Lite
I'm running a base demo install of Asterisk with ztdummy loaded on a 2Ghz Celeron with 256MB Ram - It's running on Fedora Core 2 in Text Only mode. I can connect with no issues but I'm getting intermitent popping and clicking noises in the demo playback - I've tried a variety of different codecs all with the same effect. It's the local wan so I can't see how QOS

Speex and Builder
Hi, We are planning to use Speex as the speech codec for a VoIP application. 1) May I know how Speex compared with GIPS codec? It seems that Google, Yahoo, and Skype are licensing from GIPS. Are there any good benchmarking or fair comparisons? 2) In particular, how is the jitter buffer control for Speex in response to intermitent poor connection hiccups? Is it robust enough to smooth out

can browse/copy/delete file from samba's shares but can't print
Hi, We installed Linux 8 with Samba 2.2.5-10. Sambe gets the network pc's names and passwords from our PDC-windows NT machine. In samba.cfg we have: security=server password server = xxxxxxxx (ip address of our PDC) We have a printer on that machine and we want to share it in the network. W2000 machines print on that printer without problem. However when we tried to add the printer on

Assignment to a slot in an S4 object in a list seems to violate copy rules?
Dear R-developers I came across the following issue, which I find strange: setClass("A", representation(a = "numeric")) B <- list() myA <- new("A", a = 1) B$otherA <- myA B$otherA at a <- 2 myA at a Assigning a new value to slot 'a' in the _copy_ of myA stored in B$otherA changes the original value of myA -- this was surprising to me, and I

Intermitent Samba connection problem
Some of the computers in our network keep having trouble connecting to samba I was able to restore the connectivity by placing the computer and IP address in the host file. Immediately after that the client was able to connect. It is my understanding that when Samba is using WINS if the WINS server fails to respond within a certain length of time then these are the types of errors I will get. Is

Firewall rules to block other's computers browse list
Hi All, My Samba server/firewall has three (two real, one virtual) network cards: eth0.5: connects to a terminal server eth0: internal network with about 10 XP workstations eth1: the Internet Samba is set to talk to only 12.0.0.1, eth0.5 and eth0. I have my firewall iptables rules set so that users on eth0.5 can only use the samba server on my server. They can not share with any other user on
