The problem: Files that exist only on the remote system are deleted silently (i.e. not logged), rather than noisily as implied by the recommendation of --dry-run in the rsync man page definition of --delete to see what would be

I have been using the "username map" parameter for some time on various versions of Samba 2, and it has worked nicely. Last week I upgraded to Samba 3 and integrated with Active Directory. Since I am using Solaris 8, and "nsswitch.conf" doesn't support winbindd, I am using the "add user script" parameter to add users. What is happening is that users in

Windows XP & greyed-out Guest user password prompt
Hi, we've been using Samba for a while, and are just now starting to switch our desktop computers to Windows XP. We are having a problem where connections to our Samba server fail, and the user is presented with a password prompt asking for a password for user Guest. They can't select a different user. I've searched the Microsoft knowledgebase, and the Samba list archives, and

Server-Side Copy Offload Limitations
Sorry if config was messy, we were using this server for various tests including ADS tests and n-way master replication. Back on topic, I've done changes to configuration as you suggested.
