invalidate: busy buffer
Hi,
Since upgrading to 2.4.14 with the ext3 patch, I've been getting the
following on bootup:
VFS: Mounted root (ext3 filesystem) readonly.
change_root: old root has d_count=5
Trying to unmount old root ... invalidate: busy buffer
invalidate: busy buffer
invalidate: busy buffer
invalidate: busy buffer
invalidate: busy buffer
okay
Is the invalidate busy buffer bit anything to worry about?

severe fsck problem on bootup
Hi, got a very severe problem. I have two hard drives in my RS server and I am getting the secondary drive removed. Here's the problem. After the secondary drive is removed, the server fails to bootup completely, crashing at fsck.
The server boots up fine when the secondary drive is put back in however.
Has anyone ever encountered this problem before? Could the problem be to references to

Get this warning on bootup ext3 file checks on 2.6.* kernels.

HVM DomU with Kernel 2.6.27-19 on CentOS 5 hangs with 100% CPU at Linux bootup on Xen 3.2.1
Dear Xen Community,
today we tried to upgrade our base server from a Xeon E5430 to a Xeon
X5570 (Nehalem). This worked fine so far, but our DomUs with Kernel
2.6.27 no longer boot - they start up until the following message appears:

"busy hang" on e2fsck (on a ext3 partition)
(There really doesn't seem to be a dedicated e2fsprogs list, so this was
the next-best place I could find. I don't place much faith in the
sourceforge forums..)
The filesystem in question is a 480 gig ext3 partition, on a hardware
RAID5 controller. It's approximately 90% full, with something
like 115K files. Kernel 2.4.20-pre4, on a Duron 900.
As I type this, e2fsck has used up

Whither Goest Wine?
It seems that fewer and fewer favorite programs run with wine. Stuff that ran
100% on older builds crashes out on the newer ones with elan.
There needs to be (more) regression testing. However, damage has already been
done and propagated and needs correction simply to get back to the previous
level of operability.

VM fails to start on host bootup, but starts fine manually. Why?
I have 5 VMs on my host.
The first four are setup to start on boot. But only the first three
end up running. The fourth has to be started manually.
"Start virtual machine on host bootup" is checked on all four VMs but
the fourth VM does not get started on host bootup. After the host
boots up, the VM is "Shutdown" state. If I go into "virt-manager" and

dom0 bootup -- Device eth0 has differet mac address than expected
CentOS 4.1, Xen 2.0.7. My dom0 is booting up but can''t get to the outside network because eth0 won''t start due to, apparently, Xen providing a different mac address than expected. How do I tell Xen to start eth0 at the bootup with a specific mac address that lines up with the HWADDR= line in my ifcfg-eth0? Note that a normal bootup into CentOS 4.1 outside of the Grub Xen bootup

Port 139 Not open on bootup...
I am running SUSE 12.0 I have had this problem on another machine months
ago, but never solved it. I have done many searches, but have come up empty.
When booted, port 139 is not open on IPv4. There os no 0.0.0.0:139listening.
HOWEVER: :::139 is listening. SO I know it is open on IPv6.
When I try to gain remote access through a share, the machine is not found.
When I try to telnet to port

How to change Xen''s HVM windows client to bootup and install with default vga display resolution of 800x600 instead of 640x480?
Hi,
I was wondering if there is a variable in HVM configuration file to set
the default vga display size for a windows guest? Or if anyone knows the
location in the qemu or the cirrus vga bios code where I can make this
change to set the default display size.
Thank you for your help and time,
-Yung

kernel panics on bootup
Is there a way to disable the auto reboot when the kernel panics
during bootup? I tried passing "panic=0" using grub but it still
reboots automatically.
I need to at least pause it long enough to read the screen to
determine the cause of the panic.
Thanks for any help.

VM hangs during bootup when use Tap2 disk type
Hi, ALL
When I use "tap" config, the VM is OK. Than I replace disk config
"tap" with "tap2", And VM hangs during bootup. I use "xm list" to list
vm and find the time of hanged VM is growing fast.
After VM hangs, we can not create other VMs. It prints "Error: Device
0 (vif) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts not working" . How can
I fix it?

how does the bootup screen move the cursor around?
While rebooting my computer after installing the new kernel a few
minutes ago, I got to wondering about how the initial bootup screen
(after grub, before rhgb) is constructed.
The "Loading kernel blah blah blah" lines start at the top of the screen
and proceed to scroll down as one would expect.
But "kernel alive" shows up at the bottom of the screen and then more
write-up is
