Problems compiling PostgreSQL package from FC8 on CentOS 5
Dear CentOS list we are a small software company making mostly web driven GIS software. We started to simplify out sysadmin life making RPM packages of most of the GIS software stack. For a dependency issue we had to abandon the upstream 8.1 PostgreSQL and install at least a 8.2 version. Taking the package from Fedora 8 and rebuilding it for x86_64 went smoothly. Unfortunatly the same is

exel
Hi, I'm having a weird problem. I have exel files with links in it to other exel files. When I share the map on a windows server (or windows os) eveything works. When I share it on a samba server it doesn't. When I open the file, it asks to enable macro's (I need them so say yes) - everything fine - After that It asks if I want to rework/check the links (don't know if reworks is

Hi all, To start I am still very new to samba and this is my first attempt to build RPMS from the CVS source. I am trying to use the script you have in /packaging/Redhat. I keep getting an error that samba-PVERSION cant be found, see below: [root@LSALNXS01 RedHat]# pwd /usr/src/samba/packaging/RedHat [root@LSALNXS01 RedHat]# sh makerpms.sh chown: getting attributes of `samba-PVERSION': No

Failed Logins (ntang@rga.com)
Nicholas: Regarding your problem: "The SGI server is only serving files, no home directories, no printers (we have separate NT servers for each of those functions), and it is using "SERVER" level security. Encryption is on. Guest logins are disabled ... I'm confused greatly by this - one day, a user's login will work, another day, it'll suddenly stop working. "

RPM Build Question
Hi People, I have just started building my own RPMS on both Fedora and CentOS and generally things have gone well. Currently I am trying to create RPMS for some commercial software that we have purchased. Step 1 was install the software using its JAVA Based installer ensuring that all files were installed into a particular directory in /usr/local. Step 2 was create a tar file of the

RPM support for package installation?
Hello, Tech question, I hope this has not been addressed before. I searched help archives and looked for online help but came up empty-handed. My question is: (short version) Is there a RPM-supported version of update.packages() for use with updating package libraries on managed multi-user Linux networks? Details: I put in a request for updating the version of R on one of the hosts on my

regpatch writing to local registry hive with -F not working (registery-utils 4.0.0~alpha15~git20110124.dfsg1-2ubuntu1)
Hi, I was hoping I could modify a locally mounted registry hive using regpatch and a .reg file but the -F argument seems to have no function. (Strace shows it ignores it and just operates on /var/lib/samba/private/hklm.ldb) Below is output with debug on. rfm6 at ubuntuSSDx64:cp /mnt/xp/WINDOWS/system32/config/software /tmp/software rfm6 at ubuntuSSDx64:/tmp/config$ sudo regpatch -d=10 -F

mingw-cross rpm spec file
Attached (and pasted in it entirety, although quite a few of the long lines are munched) is my rpm spec file for building the mingw cross-compiler as an rpm. It is more or less a wrapper which massages the cross-tool script and setting some of the directories in the "RPM" way and eventually everything is under /opt/mingw ; the only tricky part is telling rpm not to strip binaries.
