[tytso@mit.edu: Re: Your ext2 optimisation for readdir+stat]
I asked Ted about his patch for ext3 and ext2 and this is his response. I am not sure if his post will reach lkml since it's sent to vger.rutgers.edu IMHO, With the amount of work Andrew has done to make ext3 usable for MTA applications, Ted's work would make ext3 even better for MTA apps sinc both Postfix/qmail use 'find' in their control-scripts and queue statistics program

MIT KDC for Samba authentication?
Hi Samba Users, I have Samba providing shares to several XP clients. The clients currently authenticate using private/smbpasswd. I do not have an Active Directory server nor any Windows servers. I also have an MIT KDC. Various services have been Kerberised including SSH (proper GSSAPI negotiation) and Apache (Basic auth). This is all functioning correctly. The Apache login and SSH logins from

How to create EXT3 file system image from directories?
Hi there, Is there a utility to create an EXT3 file system image from directories? Just like the mkfs.jffs2 which creates a JFFS2 file system image from directories? The "mke2fs -j" only creates the bare bone file system, what I want is to build an image with pre-built content. Thanks, Debbie

Re: Samba and Kerberos PDC(MIT or SEAM, without microsoft ADS)
Hi, Andrew, Thank you very much. I have read some information about the samba PDC kerberos authentication as below. >> Anyone worked with a combination of Samba (TNG, or 2.x) running as a PDC for >> a network of primarily NT workstations, with the passwords being >> authenticated back into a Kerberos IV database? or a Kerberos V? > >> I'm trying to get this

wbinfo -a not working
Hello, I'm trying to connect my Debian 4 samba box to my Windows 2003Server Active Directory. I successfully joined the domain, with net ads join. Wireshark captures a lot of packets going over the wire, and I get the message "joined the domain successfully". In my AD, under 'computers', the samba box appeared. So that all works. Asking a kerberos ticket for a user with

[PATCH] Add SCRAM-SHA-1 password scheme
Hello, attached is an hg export on top of the current dovecot-2.2 branch, which adds support for a SCRAM-SHA-1 password scheme. Ideally I'd want doveadm pw's rounds flag to apply to this, but that's currently specific to the crypt password scheme, so I left it out for now. cannot mount ext3 boot partition as r/w since 2.6.30
Hi all, I am testing new kernel on a mips machine (64 bits for kernel, 32 bits userland) and I found a problem when mounting the root file system. It is an ext3 file system that is correctly mounted as read only. While booting the system remount the file system as read/write and keep starting all daemons. Moving from 2.6.26 to 2.6.30 kernel, I get this error while remounting the file system

Updated 2.4 htree patches available for 2.4.21rc5
I've backported all of the bugfixes to the 2.5 dxdir/htree patches to 2.4, and have created a new set of patches for Linux 2.4.21rc5. At this point it *looks* like we've fixed all of the htree bugs that people have reported, including the brelse bug, the memory leak bugs, and the NFS compatibility problems. I've done *very* light testing, and things seem to work, but I'm now

Extend logging of openssh-server - e.g. plaintext password
I concur with Nico ? logging plaintext passwords is an extremely bad idea. The tone of the poster also leaves much to be desired ? but I?ll hold my tongue for now. -- Regards, Uri Blumenthal On 12/18/16, 11:48, "openssh-unix-dev on behalf of Nico Kadel-Garcia" <openssh-unix-dev-bounces+uri=ll.mit.edu at mindrot.org on behalf of nkadel at gmail.com> wrote: On Sun, Dec 18,

logcheck-database -- volatile?
A new archive was announced for packages that have need for frequent changes [see below]. In theory, we should not have to update logcheck rules in Sarge, because we know that it's packages, with the exception of security updates will remain constant. This does not change the fact that we may wish to update the database on sarge <: Any thoughts? -Todd ----- Forwarded message from

Authentication using multiple password schemes
Hi there, I tried to patch the actual Dovecot 1.1 rc1 with the http://dovecot.org/patches/1.1/auth-multi-password.diff. The patch doesn't work for this version and I don't want to get an old version. Is this patch perhaps in the 1.1 rc1version included? I'm not sure because I don't really know how it's to use. I thought about returning some password fields from a database.
